Greetings to the Britt Elementary School Community!

Last Thursday evening, many Britt families attended the events planned for the evening. The cafeteria was filled for each of the three awards programs. Thank you to Sandy Grizzard for carefully planning the events, and thank you to Karen Kraus, Monica Mance, and Kimberly Singleton for preparing the many awards that were presented for academic achievement, perfect attendance, and good character. Sharly Citizen, Sara DaSilva, Carrie Hoelscher, Rebecca Womack, Pam Zuber, Kelli Henderson, Daphne Williams, Tracy Power, Melissa Madsen, and Deborah Stringfellow assisted with the award presentations. Parents and students were so pleased with their accomplishments.

The Britt Media Center hosted a great Family Book Fair evening on Thursday. Shannon Davis had assistance from the following Britt faculty and staff: Sarah McNab, Alaina Moore, Sharly Citizen, Carrie Hoelscher, and Kay Brickley. Thank you for your good work.

Parents were amazed at the Britt Technology Showcase planned and facilitated by Kimberly Singleton. Thank you to Dr. Luann Hammami who also planned for Britt Technology Showcase as a Title I parent night event. Thank you to the following Britt faculty members who facilitated sessions: Laura Girard, Midge Miller, Gentry David, Amy Bostwick, Kasshavin Clemons, Marissa Yurko, and Caitlin Tiencken. Kimberly Singleton has written a summary of the Britt Technology Showcase below.

Let me know how I can best support your good work at Britt Elementary School as we all strive together using effective, innovative practices to transform and personalize teaching and learning.

With warmest regards,

Britt Elementary School, going strong in 2016!

Thank you!

Thank you, Kimberly Singleton, for the following summary:

Britt Technology Showcase

Thank you everyone for helping to make the Britt Technology Showcase a success. Many of our Britt students and families participated in a hands-on night of technology use. Students were able to travel to five rooms and share with their families some of the ways we use technology in our school. Ms. Miller and Ms. David were our coding experts for the evening in the Hour of Code lab. Ms. Yurko and Ms. Tiencken created digital art with students, while next door, Ms. Bostwick and Ms. Clemons guided students on a digital scavenger hunt of online resources. In the Star Lab, students were able to join me in exploring the many apps we have on our school iPads. The students especially enjoyed using our new Osmo Interactive Genius Kits. Ms. Girard, our eCLASS specialist, was also available to answer students and parents’ questions regarding eClass course pages.
