Whiteley Wildcat Update
March 7, 2020
This week several of our classrooms participated in Read Across America week! We had some mystery readers, and some great reading activities, which allowed children to see the joy of reading in a different lens. I loved being able to read one of my favorite books to a group of third grade students.
PTA
Our PTA is busy getting everything ready for our Fun Fair. There are still opportunities to volunteer so that we can make the Fun Fair successful. If you are able to assist with the Cake Walk please connect with our PTA. This coming week our PTA will oversee Spring Pictures.
Registration Is Now Open
Online registration is now open for all students attending District 15 schools in the 2020-21 school year!
We opened registration earlier this year to allow families more time to complete the process. Please visit www.ccsd15.net/registration for information and instructions on how to register your child. If you are having trouble completing the process, please contact your child’s school office for assistance
Census 2020
Every 10 years, the United States counts the people in this country. This process is called the Census. Everyone counts – babies, children, teens, adults and older adults.
The census is the way the federal government divides its funds among the states. Illinois receives about $20 billion to support critical services for our communities that fund public schools, Medicaid, Head Start, Title programs, and programs that help low-income households like free lunch and HUD. It’s estimated that $1,500 will be lost for every Illinois resident who is missed—an impact we’ll suffer until the 2030 Census!
It’s quick and easy to be counted, and also required by law to participate. Your response is safe, secure and confidential. This promise is protected by federal law. No other agencies can access this information, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In mid-March, households will begin receiving official Census Bureau mail with detailed information on how to respond to the 2020 Census. Households may respond online, by phone or by mail.
