Hello Stallions!
The first week of school was a short one! Your students spent the first few days getting back into the swing of school. They made new friends and got to know their new teacher! The first days of school are fun for all of us.
Our gates open at 8:25 AM. If your students walk or ride their bikes to school, please make sure they don’t leave too early, as the campus is not open and there is no supervision available prior to 8:25 AM. Students should plan to arrive once the gates are open and we can safely monitor everyone.
If you plan to walk your student to campus I encourage you to park in the neighborhood behind school and use the crosswalk to enter through the back gate, or park in the neighborhood across from the front parking lot and use the crosswalk to accompany your student to campus.
This week is the first full week of school for our Stallions! The students are all super excited to be at school and the teachers are excited about the journey they are beginning with your students. There will be many successes for all our students this year. The 2017-18 school year is going to be a great one!
Beginning Monday the 7th, the front parking lot will be closed from 8:20 AM to 8:40 AM, and from 3:20 PM to 3:40 PM (2:20-2:40 on early release Wednesdays). The decision for this is completely for the safety of our students. This area is congested with buses dropping off and picking up, as well as our high number of walkers and bike riders crossing the lot. If you usually park in the lot during these times, you may certainly continue to do so, however, you will need to park in the available parking along the marquee driveway. Many parents opt to park in the neighborhoods either east or west of campus, or near the park. They then walk with their children to campus in the morning or wait at the gates for their dismissal at the end of the day. We really appreciate your patience with the traffic around school at arrival and dismissal times. It usually takes a few days to work the kinks out of school traffic concerns.
Monday is our annual PTSO Back to School Bash at Mesquite Junior High School Pool. It is from 6:30 - 8:30 PM and is free to SRE families. PTSO has reserved the pool for just the SRE community, so come on out and enjoy a evening swim! See the flyer below for details.
This week we begin our early release Wednesdays. All students will be dismissed at 2:30 PM on Wednesdays. After students depart our teachers will meet in their professional learning communities (PLCs) and review student data and plan intervention instruction. This extra time is used to better plan for how we teach our students.
This Friday is a Stallion Style Day! Almost every Friday we will do a Stallion Style Day. We ask our students, faculty, and staff to wear black or gray or teal or their Stallion gear. This is one of the many ways we will show our school spirit!
Welcome to all our new Stallions and Welcome Back to those who have been with us in the past. It is going to be an awesome school year! We are glad you will be a part of it! Let’s make it a great year!
