A message from the Principal-Mrs. Bookman
To our Suffield Family,
The end of summer arrives this weekend! With that comes some chilly times outside at recess. Please make sure that you send a jacket with your child each day. This time of year often catches us off guard, so be prepared! It would also be helpful if you put your child's name on the inside of the jacket that they wear to school. Students often get warm while running around outside, take them off, then forget to grab them from wherever they put them down. A name on the jacket will help us match them up!
The holidays are just around the corner. If you and your family can use some assistance this holiday season, please let me know. The Suffield/Randolph Food Shelf has a program for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets and Christmas gifts through the Giving Tree. There are also often families or other organizations who reach out and want to help others. If you have a need, please reach out to me and I will find a way to get you the help you need!
On Friday, October 22nd, our staff will be participating in the Denim Days for breast cancer awareness by wearing jeans and pink. We invite students to join in and wear their pink and denim as well. If you'd like to make a donation, please see the information below.
The Fall Fundraiser has begun. We invite students to participate to earn some fun prizes and help our school at the same time. We hope to be able to purchase some additional technology with the earnings. Students can earn a chance at winning a really cool prize by submitting all orders online! Check it out and if you need more information or an order form, give the office a call or send a note! Thank you for your support!
I hope you and your family enjoy a wonderful Fall weekend! Stay dry!

A note from the Ohio Department of Health
The Ohio Department of Health has asked schools to share this information with families:
As you know, the COVID-19 vaccination is a key to keeping Ohio’s students in the classroom, and that’s why the Ohio Department of Health has launched Ohio Vax-2-School. Ohioans between the ages of 12 and 25 who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination have the chance to win one of 150 $10,000 scholarships and one of five $100,000 scholarships to an Ohio college or university for career or technical education. The entry period is open now. To learn more about this initiative or to submit an entry, visit ohiovax2school.com or call 1-833-4-ASK-ODH.
Fall Fest-October 16th
Flu Shot Clinic
In partnership with Akron Children’s Hospital School Health Services, it is our pleasure to offer on-site flu vaccinations at your student’s school on Monday, October 25th. Flu clinics will be offered at each school location during school hours. Health Heroes flu vaccination clinics are completely voluntary and are offered to ALL consented students, regardless of their insurance coverage.
Why get a flu vaccine?
The best way to minimize or avoid the spread of the flu is to get an annual flu vaccination. Each year the vaccine protects against new strains, therefore, the vaccine should be administered annually.
Who is Health Heroes, Inc.?
At Health Heroes, we specialize in on-site vaccination clinics. Vaccines are provided as a NO-OUT-OF-POCKET expense to students. We bill both Medicaid and private insurance; however, we never bill students or parents for any out-of-pocket expenses or deductibles. Qualifying uninsured students can be given the vaccine, free of charge. Although student participation is voluntary, these vaccinations are recommended to help keep schools healthy and cut down on high absenteeism.
What type of vaccines will be given?
IIV-4 injections will be available to all consented children who do not have any contra-indicators. All vaccines given are preservative-free, mercury-free, Thimerosal-free, and administered by state-licensed nurses.
What do you need to do to participate?
If you wish for your child to participate, please COMPLETELY fill out the consent form, Including ALL insurance information (you must have the member ID numbers filled in), and sign the form. If there is no insurance, please mark the appropriate box on the form. These forms need to be returned to your child’s school prior to the clinic date to secure a dose for your child.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the Health Heroes at 330-573-6864 or 1-205-609-0268/OH@healthherousa.com. For further information, you can also visit our website at www.healthherousa.com. We hope to see your child in the clinic!

Birthday Treats-MUST be prepackaged, ONLY
At this time, we will allow Birthday Treats to be brought to school. We are required to inform you of the Healthy Eating Guidelines (see below) and suggest that you use this when selecting a treat. Whatever you choose, please note that all treats brought to school for the purpose of sharing with others, need to be prepackaged so we are able to know and see the ingredients list. There are many students who have a variety of food allergies and having the ingredients listed helps the school nurse determine if a student with allergies can eat a particular treat.

School Counseling Needs Assessment for 2021-2022 School Year!
Your input helps us better serve our students and make sure we meet their needs as we continue into the 2021-2022 school year. We look forward to supporting your child's academic, career, and social/emotional growth. School Counselors will address each of those growth areas in the classroom and school-wide activities. In addition, individual and small group counseling will address these areas more specific to the individual needs of students. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey to best prepare our department to serve you and your students. This is an anonymous survey that should only take about 3-5 minutes to complete.

Suffield Elementary will now take part in recycling markers that no longer work. It’s a super easy project to help our environment! You can send in any brand of markers, sharpies, dry erase, and highlighters.
