Walker Bulldog News

March 12, 2021

Dear Families,

What a glorious week as we enjoyed the first touch of spring! It seems as though the warmer, sunnier weather made us all walk a little taller, smile a little brighter, and laugh a little louder. Seeing the first flowers push through the ground, helps us to quickly forget the coldest and snowiest of winter days.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience during supply pick-up today. It is our sincere hope that families and students enjoy their personal copies of Stella Diaz Never Gives Up. If you were unable to pick-up supplies today, we will contintue to distribute materaials next week as well. Before coming to school, please contact the office, so that we can have your materials ready. Additionally, we included some fun materials for our 26 day countdown to the end of school. It seems impossible to think the end of the school year is just around the corner. Stay tuned for more important information related to the end of the year countdown.

This weekend, we do spring forward. Don't forget to move those clocks ahead, when you go to sleep Saturday night. The extra daylight will be welcomed by all. Have a wonderful weekend and as always, should you have any questions or concerns, please to not hesitate to reach out to us.

All the best,

Ms. Amanda Venegonia, Principal

Mrs. Sara Leone, Associate Principal

Transportation News

For those students electing to return to onsite, online learning, on April 6th it is important for families to review the information for transportation. The attached documents include bus stops and times as well as guidelines for the bus.

It is important for families to complete the transportation survey, if there is a need for transportation provided by the district to attend onsite, online learning. Please kindly complete this survey by March 26, so that we can plan accordingly for transportation starting April 6.

Should you have questions related to transportation, please contact Mr. Moore at jmoore@sd104.us.

PBIS at Walker School

Our students are earning PAWS as part of our PBIS initiative. Students are awarded PAWS for meeting our schoolwide behavioral expectations of being respectful, responsible, and safe. When teachers award students PAWS, it accumulates in their account, which allows students to shop in our school store. For more information about PBIS Rewards, please view the short videos below. Videos are offered in English and Spanish.

If parents need help setting up an account to view their child's progress, please contact our social worker and PBIS coach, Mr. Hofer. He can be reached via email at chofer@sd104.us.

Women's History Month

March is designated as Women's History Month. As we celebrate the accomplishments and contributions for women throughout history, let's take a moment to discover the history behind Women's History Month. As we celebrate this month, let us remember: Here's to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them!
