-where all students learn at highest levels-
Welcome to the 2021/22 School year!
The Midnight Sun Elementary staff and I are so excited to be starting the new school year in-person. Our goal is to keep all students and staff safe so that we can continue being in-person for the entire school year. In order to do that we need your help. By keeping the Three C's in the front of our minds, we will be well on our way to achieving that goal.
Be Cautious -Make healthy choices, avoid people who are sick, be thoughtful about activities, consider getting vaccinated.
Be Courteous – Respect others’ health privacy, cover your coughs & sneezes, stay home if you are sick, take advantage of COVID screening and testing opportunities.
Be Clean – Wash your hands often, use hand sanitizer, avoid touching your face, disinfect high touch surfaces.
Mask wearing will be optional this year. Mask up or not - it's your choice.
We will gradually bring back some of our favorite activities that were sorely missed last school year. We will continue with some zoom connections for certain types of meetings. like IEPs, SSTs, and the first round of parent/teacher conferences in October. Visitors will be limited as we follow community transmission patterns of COVID.
To kick off this amazing school year, we have our Back to School Event on Monday, August 16th, from 5:30-6:30pm. There you will find all of our teachers, and many of our support staff, outside, in the front area, waiting to welcome you and your student(s). If the weather is not conducive to our being outside, you will find us all in the gym and can enter through the doors on the NW side of the building, back by the bus loop.
Come meet the teachers and staff as we prepare for an amazing new school year.
Warm regards,
Joanne Van
School Start Times
Students will enter the school at the first bell at 9:00am. We will be using the same system for entry as last year. All car riders, whether eating breakfast at school or not, will enter through the front doors. K-2 will head to their classrooms, while 3-5 will head to the breakfast line.
Bus riders K-2 will come in the gym doors and head directly to their classrooms (K aides will be there to assist). 3rd-5th graders, eating breakfast at school, will enter through the ski room doors, while those 3rd-5th, not eating breakfast at school, will enter through the music room doors.
Dismissal
Car riders and walkers will be dismissed at 3:25 followed by the bus riders who will be dismissed at 3:30. This procedure made the process flow so smoothly, that we decided to implement it again this school year.

Kindergarten and New Student Registration Open
Kindergarten families should check out our website and facebook page for a video and activities that you and your child can enjoy. Then please register soon, so we can get the proper number of Kindergarten teachers assigned to our classrooms.

We have PreSchool this year
PreSchoolers do not attend school until September 1st. Mr. Micheal Luke and his team will be reaching out to those parents at a later date.
Meals are free for all students again this year.
The USDA has extended the waiver for FNSBSD to provide breakfast & lunch to all FNSBSD enrolled students for FREE. This includes our charter schools and BEST!
Free & reduced applications are still being accepted and encouraged. This will get you all set for next year.
