CSK Book Club Announces a Special Event
Join us on December 2, 2017 following Shabbat morning services for an Author Forum presented by our talented member Ilene Prusher, author of "Baghdad Fixer."
The book is a highly acclaimed, poignant narrative of what it was like to be a foreign journalist in Iraq in 2003. Ilene will be present to discuss the book and answer questions.
Copies of "The Baghdad Fixer" are available for purchase in the synagogue office in advance of the event. Please call the office for information.
More About Ilene
After completing her master’s degree at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism,Ilene chose to focus on international affairs, with a focus on the Middle East and other conflict zones. As a foreign correspondent for The Christian Science Monitor from 1996-2010, she covered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and served as the newspaper’s bureau chief in Jerusalem, Istanbul and Tokyo. Most recently she served as Jerusalem correspondent for TIME Magazine, a columnist for Haaretz, and a program host on TLV1 Radio. Over the past five years, she has taught journalism courses as an adjunct faculty member at NYU-Tel Aviv, the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC) and ieiMedia. Her work has also been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Miami Herald, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Guardian and The Financial Times. Ilene is now a faculty member in the School of Communication and Multimedia Studies at Florida Atlantic University and a proud member of Congregation Shaarei Kodesh.
