Would we consider Washington an effective leader as President?
- President Washington signed the first Copyright Act of 1790 on May 31st, 1790
- In 1794 Washington signed the Navel Act. This established a permanent naval force for the United States of America which is today's Navy.
- Washington's Farewell Address is one of the most celebrated speeches in American history.
George Washington became the first president of the United States. He went to office in 1789, then served a second term in 1793. Although, after serving twice Washington refused to serve a third term because he wanted to retire.
Final Statement
Washington was a great, effective leader. He was the one who set the tone for all future presidents.
