Q2 Week 1 Announcements
Welcome to our Second Quarter (Q2)!
Dear Launch Academy Student & Parent/Guardian,
We hope you had a restful Fall Break and now are ready to jump on our Q2 journey of interactive learning. You will be assigned three new classes - Your goal is to complete your assigned classes by the week of December 12th.
Our second quarter (Q2) of the school year has 10 weeks not including the Thanksgiving Week which is a holiday. Practically, you will have 11 weeks to complete your assigned classes. You can do it! And we are here to support you.
This quarter, we are planning on implementing optional in-person activities to enhance your learning experience, the possibility of adding a school phone APP to increase communication, more interactivity in your classes, facilitation of student collaboration, more student direct participation in extracurricular activities through our Associated Student Body (ASB), and more. We want to see you JOIN all these upcoming activities!
First day of school for Q2 is Tuesday, October 4th. However, on Monday, October 3rd, you will start getting emails from your teachers and academic coach. Please check your email and log into CANVAS daily starting Monday.
On Monday, October 3rd, students and parents will be able to access student's Q2 Class Schedule in Infinite Campus Portal. Click HERE for a video on how to check your schedule. In addition, we will email each student and parent Q2 class schedules Monday morning. PLEASE join your assigned classes according the class period (P1-8) on the designated day and time. All meetings links will become available starting Monday in each of your CANVAS classes. If there are any issues with your class schedule, contact immediately you counselor by email, phone or by scheduling an online meeting. Click HERE for our counseling team contact information.
At Launch Virtual Academy, each student has the flexibility and freedom to be in control of their learning experience. However, this new power comes with new responsibilities. We, wholeheartedly believe that you can be successful in an online environment. You have us on your team!
See you online,

PSAT's (Preliminary SAT) - Wednesday, October 12th (Sign Up)
The PSAT/NMSQT is a standardized test that 10th and 11th graders take in October. Like the SAT, it measures the knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and math students learn in the classroom—the same knowledge and skills your child needs to succeed in college and career.
Why the PSAT/NMSQT Is Important
It connects students to more than $300 million in scholarships, including the National Merit® Scholarship Program. If you opt into the free Student Search Service®, scholarship providers will invite them to apply.
It's excellent practice for the SAT. Both tests measure the same knowledge and skills and ask the same types of questions, so PSAT/NMSQT takers will know what to expect on the SAT.
It's the first step to a free, personalized SAT study plan. Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy® uses your PSAT/NMSQT scores to create a customized SAT study plan with sample questions that focus on areas where they need help.
It shows student progress on the road to college. The PSAT/NMSQT is part of the SAT Suite of Assessments, a series of tests beginning in eighth grade that shows you and your teachers whether you are on track for college.
It shows which Advanced Placement Program® (AP) courses you are ready for. The PSAT/NMSQT Score Report indicates which college-level AP courses you have the potential to succeed in.
How to Practice
The best way your child can prepare for the PSAT/NMSQT is to pay attention in their high school classes and study the course material. Students who do well in school are likely to do well on the PSAT/NMSQT.
Because the PSAT/NMSQT and the SAT focus on the same subject areas and ask the same types of questions, you can use Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy to practice for the PSAT/NMSQT. It's a free, interactive study tool that provides a personalized practice plan that focuses on exactly what you need to stay on track for college.
You can also download and print official PSAT/NMSQT practice tests.
For more information, check out the PSAT on College Board.
