Even though the campus is closed, instruction is still happening.
- Teachers may be reached through the platform they sent to each family.
- Main Office may still be reached at our regular school number: 310-645-5611
- The district has purchased Amazon Connect to relay the office phones to our remote work location. The office can connect you to any out of the classroom personnel by email or phone. Our office hours are 8am - 4pm.

Daily Pass App: How Access Campus with a Daily Health Check
This is Westport Heights School Principal Jacqueline Hughes. In order to eventually return to the classroom, we all need to follow these “Safe Steps to Safe Schools”:
Commit to healthy behaviors like wearing your mask, staying socially distant, and washing your hands
Use the new Daily Pass
Take your COVID-19 test
The Daily Pass is a digital tool used to:
- schedule COVID-19 tests and get test results.
- answer the Daily Health Check questions required to eventually get back onto campus with a QR Code. (Note: Currently, in the Daily Pass system, you must have a COVID-19 test on file in the Daily Pass app for the Daily Pass App to function and allow access to campus.)
NOTE: Parents will need to use their Parent Portal account to sign Daily Pass. If you have not set up your Parent Portal Account and connected your child's account to your Parent Portal Account, please do so as soon as possible. If you need assistance, call the school 310-645-5611 or speak to Community Rep, Blanca Espinoza at 424-666-1153.
For help scheduling a COVID-19 test or using the Daily Pass, please contact the school or call the Los Angeles Unified Helpdesk at 213-443-1300.
If we all take these safety steps, together we help stop the spread of COVID-19 and get back to campus as scheduled.
To visit the Daily Pass site, go to dailypass.lausd.net.

Return to Campus: Family Program Selection Form
The purpose of this questionnaire is to let Los Angeles Unified know how your child will participate in instruction when schools reopen. All families will need to complete this Program Selection Form by March 19 so that we can adequately prepare to provide an instructional program that meets your child’s needs. Please note that if no response is received for your child, the default will be for your child to continue learning online. You will also have the option to change how your child will participate in instruction every two weeks after schools reopen by contacting your school.
For more information, including on the health practices and protocols in place at our schools, please review the Return to Campus Family Guide.
Any model of in-person instruction will require students to be tested for COVID-19 before returning to campus and on a weekly basis thereafter. Schools will have strict health protocols in place, which include physical distancing, use of face masks, and daily health and temperature checks for all students and staff.
To ensure accuracy, we ask that you complete a separate selection form for each child who attends an LAUSD school

Library Books Can Now be Checked Out
During distance learning, Westport Heights is opening the library for students to borrow or check out books using this Google request form: http://bit.ly/WHESLibraryBook. All requests must be in by Thursday of each week in order for Mr. Mazumder to have the books ready for pickup on either Tuesday or Thursday of the following week. We will maintain social distance during the pick-up and drop-off of library books.
Also, you can check our Westport Heights Library Catalog in the Schoology dropdown menu under Destiny Library for a list of books that are available. You can also check out books here.
* Students are allowed to check out two books each at a time.
* Students must return the books before checking out another book.
*Please be responsible for taking good care of the books.
**If you have questions or need to make a special pick-up time request, please call the school and ask for our Library Aide, Mr. Mazumder at 310-645-5611.

Westport Heights Elementary School: Core Values
Caring can be shown in many ways at a school. One of the ways to share Kudos across our community is to give KUDOS. When you care, you can "...spend time emphasizing the positive experiences... Just like you say “thank you” to a cashier for your change (aka “just doing their job”), giving a quick appreciation is polite, respectful, and an important part of building...relationships. It’s nice to know you are appreciated, even when it’s just the smaller moments!" [excerpt from KudosNow.com] See our Kudos of the Week below to highlight a few of those moments at WHES...
Kudos: Thank you Parents!
1- Parents who purchased books online with our Scholastic Book Fair and supported our future school activities!
2- Parents who completed the Program Selection Form so we can prepare for those who plan to return to campus for instruction. The deadline has been extended beyond the original Friday, March 19th date to submit the Program Selection Form. The actual time LAUSD will set to return the Program Selection Form is unknown. So, please complete the form if you have not done so already before it closes.
3. Parents who signed up for Parent Conferences to work with your child's teacher this school year by finding out progress and next steps.
Kudos: Thank you Staff!
1- Ms. Yolanda and Mrs. Wagner who help us celebrate birthdays for the staff at our school.
FEBRUARY: Ms. Mangos
MARCH: Ms. Emily St. Clair, Ms. Spicer (TODAY!!), Ms. Grams, and Mr. McGurty
Happy Birthday!!
2- Teachers for planning enriching field trips for our students using virtual resources. For example, Ms. Quintero took her TK/K class to the La Brea Tar Pits last week!
3- Teachers and Ms. Mona (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!) and Mrs. Isabel for organizing another smooth Parent Conference for our families.
Kudos: Thank you Students!
1-The students who received a Student Success award. Your digital certificate will be emailed to you and your parents. The gift will be funded by Booster and able to be picked up at the school by appointment with Mrs. Blanca.
2- The students who are practicing for their return to campus hybrid learning - wearing masks, frequently washing hands, and practicing social distancing. The more you practice, the more you will be prepared to return to campus.
