Spotlight On Third Grade
Third grade is having an awesome year! Our new ELA curriculum is giving students lots of opportunities to read fun stories, write narratives and explanatory texts, and use technology to enhance their learning. We had such fun learning about all kinds of different frogs last quarter. Students even had the opportunity to create their very own Freaky Frog book. This quarter we will be reading Peter Pan and then presenting a scene from the book. Students have already shown such progress in reading and writing. We are looking forward to the rest of the school year!
Counselor's Corner
The character words for January and February will be “perseverance” and “determination.” The definition of perseverance and determination is “not giving up until the job is done.” We will also begin to discuss good study skills and test-taking strategies and how our character words tie into them.

Notice from our Nurse
Any child that has a fever of 100 degrees or higher should be kept home (will be sent home from school) and remain at home until fever free for 48 hours without medication. If they vomit at home or school, they should remain at home for 48 hours after the last incident. When your child visits the doctor or dentist, please bring a note to the office for our records. Thank you for your help in these matters.

Music Notes
Thank you to all the parents, teachers, and staff for making our Operation Figgy Puddy a success. We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas with our North Elementary Family. We will be working on our Spring Virtual Concerts beginning at the top of this new year. Our 1st and 2nd Grade students will be filming their concert, the Case of the Missing Mother Goose. If your child has a speaking part, remember we will be on the set next Thursday. Please have your child dressed in their costumes and special attire for we will be filming at around 1:15 - 2:05. Instruments and Solos will be filmed throughout the weeks to come.
3rd and 4th Grade Concerts will begin to be filmed during the months of March while our Kindergarten classes will be presenting their concert in April.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime.
Musically Yours,
Joseph Moore
