5/6 Academy Weekly News
October 8, 2021
Message from the Principal
I hope this newsletter finds you well and I hope that you all had as good of a week as we did. Please remember that parent/teacher conferences are Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 3:30-8:00 pm and families will be seen on a first come first serve basis. We also have virtual conference times available on Tuesday, Oct. 19 that you can schedule with your child's homeroom teacher.
In preparing for conferences, I would suggest that you have any questions that you would like to be addressed written down and have them ready for your conference. This will help move the process along so that my staff can meet with as many families as possible and ensure that you leave with the information that you need to support your child. As always if you need anything please do not hesitate to contact us.
Your partner in education,
Mrs. Tamara Jamierson
If you call with alternate pick-up arrangements for your child at the end of the day, you must make this call BEFORE the last 15 minutes of the day. Otherwise we cannot guarantee your message will be passed.
Picture Retake Day is Wednesday, October 13!! (Bring a change of clothes if your student also wants to do spirit day.)
If your child was absent on the original picture day (Sept. 8), he/she can get an order form from the office to bring with them on retake day to order pictures. You can also wait to get the proof of the picture back from Prater Studios and order with the link provided.
If your child received pictures on the original picture day, but would like a new picture, please have your child bring his/her picture packet to school and give to the photographer on picture day indicating they'd like a new picture taken.
Email Mrs. Miller (email@example.com) to get signed up to attend the Love and Logic workshop!
2021 Spring M-STEP Scores
The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress, or M-STEP, is an assessment designed to gauge how well students are mastering state standards. These standards broadly outline what students should know and be able to do in order to be prepared to enter the workplace, career education training, and college. The M-STEP is administered to students each spring in grades 3-8, and grade 11.
For students who took the Spring 2021 M-STEP, the individual data reports have arrived! All of the parent reports will be available to view soon on Skyward. If you would like to see the results sooner, you may pick up a copy of the report during in-person conferences on October 13th, or they will be available in the 5/6 Academy Office at any time after that date.
Additionally, a helpful companion to this report is the M-STEP Parent Guide, which provides grade-level descriptions of the assessed standards and what the student will be expected to learn in the next school year for each tested grade. To access the Parent Report Guides, go to this link on the Michigan Department of Education website.
