Incoming 2nd-3rd Grade Summer Experience Opportunities

A Pirates Journey

Ahoy! Take a pirate's virtual journey to a new Caribbean island every day. Learn about some legendary and crazy pirates, as well as study oceans, and ocean life in the Caribbean. We'll take a "journey" and learn about some of the islands in the Caribbean that pirates liked to visit. We'll take a look at some shipwrecks, and also sea life. Have fun making pirate and ocean themed projects using salt dough, paint, and building your own miniature pirate ship! Be ready for messy art projects. See you soon mateys! Taught by Mrs. Palmer

A Summer at the Beach

Do you dream of the beach? Do you wonder about the creatures at the beach? In this class, we will be learning all about the beach life. This summer we will do many hands-on experiments to learn more about weather, erosion, and tides. Together will dive into learning all about the beach creatures from ghost crabs to sharks. We will have fun in the sun during our water days. Then do a little relaxing while zooming with the staff from Sea World!! We will enjoy a few walking trips and end our time together with a trip to Wonders Of Wildlife. Come join us this summer at the beach!

Art Around the World

Let's explore the world through ART! We'll tour the globe, learning about all kinds of art and cultures. We'll learn about Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, South America and maybe even explore Outer Space....Ooooooh! I am planning all sorts of projects, games and adventures! An exciting field trip is in the works. All I am missing is YOU!

Behind the Scenes Disney & Pixar

Do you like Disney movies?! Are you curious about the Disney Parks?! Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes? How the characters are created? How the voices of characters are chosen? If you are interested in watching Disney/ Pixar movies, reading Disney books, directed drawings of characters, virtual field trips to Disney Parks, and so much more behind the scenes Disney, this is the summer experience for you! Tentative field trips to Lebanon Ritz B&B Theater to see a Disney movie, and the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield.

Build It! Bake It! Bust A Move!

This summer experience class is buzzing with fun adventures! We will spend time each day building, baking and moving to keep you on your toes and experience learning through a hands-on classroom. Build It! We will become mad scientists to build and explore through experiments and projects! We will build solar ovens for s’mores, elephant toothpaste, slime, exploding volcanoes and more. We will build projects using STEM activities. Projects will include lego creations, bridges and towers, marble mazes and more. The sky's the limit for what we can learn and create! Bake It! Do you like to create and eat snacks? We will make homemade ice cream, butter, cookies, pancakes, homemade donuts, trail mixes and more. This part of our day will include learning how to read kid friendly recipes and a lot of fun taste testing! Bust a Move! No one wants to sit still during the summer and we’ve got you covered. We’ll learn about your favorite sports, dance, and take walks. We’ll complete a Ninja Warrior course, play baseball and kickball! Splish, Splash we’ll have a blast busting a move with water relays, water balloons and more! Bring your beach towels to relax and read outside under the trees. Join Build It! Bake It! Bust a Move! for a summer of new adventures and fun experiences!

Camp Olympics

Come light the torch and begin a summer adventure! In Camp Olympics students will learn all about the Olympic Games as well as getting to compete in several competitions. You don’t want to miss out!

Camp Whata Week

Monday-Make it Monday-We will be making a variety of crafts and yummy treats. Tuesday-Try it Out Tuesday-Students will be trying out and learning about different sports and activities. Wednesday-Wet and Wild Wednesday. Students will be learning all about water and ocean creatures. They will also be participating in outdoor water activities and relays. Thursday-Traveling Thursday-Students will have the opportunity to visit different countries and learn about their food and culture. Friday-Freaky Friday-Students will become scientists to design and participate in a variety of freaky experiments.

Coding and the Mystery of Science

We will use Chromebooks and iPads to code, program robots, and to create projects. We will discover science & engineering concepts by doing experiments and hands-on activities. Our field trip will include a day at the Discovery Center of Springfield.

Extreme Science FUN!

Come join me for AMAZING science experiments and STEM everyday! We will create lots of hands on projects and games. You will make your own rocket, your own bouncy ball, balloon cars and we will even make elephant toothpaste! We will hatch butterflies and have a tentative trip planned to the Butterfly Palace! Creativity and fun is our mission in Extreme Science Fun!

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie...

If you like Cookies, Donuts, Cupcakes, & Muffins; then I have the class for you! In this class, we will be diving into the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie stories written by Laura Numeroff. During our journey, we will be doing some baking, visiting the donut shop, stopping by the local library, and visiting the movie theater. We will flip the story and create our own "If You Give" adventures, and conclude with a day called "If You Take a Second Grader on a FIELD TRIP!"

JR Explorers Camp-Incoming 3rd-5th graders only

Join your outdoor guides; Ms. Bonnette and Mr. Sherrer at Bennett Springs State Park, for JR Explorer Camp. This camp for incoming 3-5th graders. We will spend our days learning in nature. We will hike every day, do trail clean up service projects, and learn a ton about science! Students can earn badges. We will also sharpen our saw, nu swimming and reading in the shade. We are partnering with the MO State Park Dept. for workshops and activities. Parents must provide transportation to and from Bennett Springs.

Legos and Fairy Tales

Do you like to play with legos, read about dragons, heroes, and villains? Do you like to get your hands dirty creating fun projects? Then come join me for summer experience at Maplecrest Elementary. We are going to create Lego builds, plays, comic strips, STEAM activities, science experiments, and more using many fun fairy tales. We will be taking 2 exciting field trips. We are going to have an amazing summer experience!

Let’s Get Messy

Buckle in Everyone! Let’s Get Messy is going to be a fun ride! Our days will be packed full with exciting hands-on activities. Slime, moon sand, painting, tasty treats, mud worms, and so much more. We also will be going on walking field trips around Lebanon and a field trip to the BRAND NEW Aquarium on the Boardwalk! Whoa! Join me for a MESSY Summer Experience!

My Wild Alaskan Summer

After living in Alaska for twenty years, I love sharing about life in The Last Frontier. Come learn about Alaska and have fun doing it! We will create WILD arts and crafts through painting, soap carving, weaving, beading, and more. We will cook every day and sample some Alaskan recipes including seafood, sourdough bread, cookies, cake, homemade ice cream, and more! Learn about Alaskan animals, weather, transportation, and the indigenous people of the Arctic. We will pan for gold and experience Alaskan Native dancing, science experiments, and STEM projects. Possible field trips would include outings to Wonders of Wildlife, Firehouse Pottery, or a nearby walking cave.

Safari and Swim Animal Adventure (Discover animals you would see on Safari or in a submarine.)

Discover animals you would see on Safari or in a submarine. We will explore animals above and below the sea, while learning about there habitat and way of life. Learn fun facts, make crafts, make and eat snacks, and reinforce concepts needed for second and third grade. We are planning on going to Dickerson Park Zoo and will also have a fun water day.

Summer STEAM Bucket List

Join us in marking off our bucket list of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics education). We will be doing lots of hands on activities from making solar ovens, learning to code, going on a hike, a trip to the Floyd W. Jones Lebanon Airport, a kickball tournament and much much more. It will be a summer to remember.
