Washington Technology Magnet School
Parent Newsletter May 2020
Message from Principal Bonnick
Greetings Washington Families,
It is my hope that you and your loved ones are doing well! Please know that our staff is working hard to make sure your child(ren) needs are being met!
Unfortunately but understandable, Governor Walz’s announcement that school has been moved to distance learning for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year and it has many of us feeling mixed emotions and that is totally normal. Our whole year at Washington has been about building positive relationships. It is those positive relationships that will carry us through this difficult time. I feel it is important to remind our families about the student support available for social, emotional needs. Students may have anxiety about all that they are facing. Our seniors are losing the traditional rite of passage ceremonies, students have lost the in person daily social and human interaction which is the fabric of our school community. The health and safety of our community is paramount!
In addition to our teachers, our grade level support team members are available through our virtual check and connect program. Grade level teams are checking in with students via email, schoology, phone, google meets. If you have concerns about your child's academic needs, social needs, mental health, technology access concerns, etc. please, reach out to any member of our administrative team with questions. These professionals can assist in navigating school supports and services as well as any needed community resources during this difficult time.
Thank you for supporting your child and Washington Technology Magnet School. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call me at 612-280-1633.
In Partnership,
Principal Bonnick
