Graduation Requirements
Graduation requirements and graduation testing have been changing over the past several years and continue to change. Students in the 2020-2022 cohorts may satisfy graduation requirements in one of four ways:
· Passing the GQE/ISTEP+10
· Meeting the requirements of the GQE/ISTEP+10 waiver (see info below)
· Successfully complete the new graduation pathways (must satisfy all three boxes). The graduation pathways allow students to create an individual graduation plan. Please note students must attempt the GQE/ISTEP+10 test even if opting into the new graduation pathways
The Class of 2023 is required to graduate under the new graduation pathways.

Commencement 2020
The commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020 is not that far away-Thursday evening, June 4, 2020. The reasons graduation is being held on Thursday evening relate to safety and staffing. There are benefits to a Sunday commencement service, but the heat of the day has caused safety issues for some guests in the past. Additionally, a Thursday service can be more easily staffed. Our custodial and maintenance staff have a tall order when setting up Kiwanis and Slicer Gym (back-up for weather). Historically, graduation has been held more on weeknights than on the weekends. In the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s it was common to have graduation on a Thursday. Sometime in the late 70s and early 80s a Sunday service became a pattern. We hope that a Thursday evening service can help families better utilize Sunday for graduation parties.
Slicer Champions Mentor Program
LPHS is grateful for the continued support from the community with our school-based mentoring program. The Slicer Champions Mentoring Program connects caring adults from the community with students who need support and encouragement. The program includes mentor training and regular mentor/mentee meetings and activities and is guided by an Advisory Board.
Advanced Placement (AP) Test Fees
AP enables students to experience college-level work and attain college credits while still in high school. LPHS offers across-the-board Advanced Placement course offerings in Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Visual Arts, AP Seminar, and AP Research. LPHS is one of approx. 15 Indiana schools to offer the AP Capstone diploma from the College Board.
