What's Happening This Week?
Hi all! Excited for another awesome week of school with your fabulous students!
As a reminder, Monday the 31st is an early release day! Early release should be old hat for your students at this point, but please make sure everyone knows how they'll be going home! Speaking of Monday, don't forget that in honor of the 5th grade spending October collecting socks to donate, we are doing a crazy sock day tomorrow! I can't wait to see how wacky the socks get!
You may have heard from your child that we are getting a new student this week! I'm very excited to welcome Isaiah to our classroom. Help us create a welcoming environment by coming up with ideas with your child about how to help and befriend a new student!
Finally, don't forget - our Room Parents sent out an email detailing our basket for the 5th grade DC Trip basket raffle! Our basket will be garden themed. We'll be taking donations until November 18th! Anything will help - send your garden-themed donation in with your student to drop off into a collection box under KiKi's cage. I'm so pumped to see the awesome basket we'll be creating to raffle off!
Check out the 'What Are We Learning' section below to see how we'll be making the most of this week in our classroom! As always, email, call, or text with any questions or concerns you have. It's going to be a great week!
What Are We Learning This Week?
- Wit & Wisdom (Literacy): Continuing our Exploration unit with nonfiction, artwork, and literature - exploring ways people explore the sea.
- Reading Groups: Several students from all third grade classes are now piloting our reading groups, focusing mainly on phonics!
- Science: Studying soil and how plants survive in their environments.
- Math: Finishing up our graphing unit and moving into addition, subtraction, and the number system.
