Ashley High School
News for the Week of 1/30/23
Important Attendance Information
Please be reminded that students should be in school each day and that attendance is paramount to students’ success. If your student misses class for an appointment, please bring a note (within 5 days of the appointment) to the attendance desk in the front office. You may also email notes to tamara.williams2@nhcs.net. Also, we will only be able to accept up to 10 notes from a parent before additional documentation may be required to excuse absences. Students who miss more than 10 days a semester are in jeopardy of not receiving their course credit due to attendance, as per board policy 4400.

Least favorite subject: Math
Favorite quote or saying: "Love them anyway." Luke 23:34
What drives you crazy? Loud chewers.
What makes you happy? It's as simple as soccer, sunsets, good food, good laughs with friends.
Favorite book: My favorite book is "One of Us is Lying"
Favorite movie: "Aladdin"
Favorite color: Hot pink
Favorite food: Mezzaluna pasta
What do you do for fun? I enjoy playing soccer, going to the beach, and hanging out and going to outings on the weekends with my friends
Whom do you admire most, and why? I would never be able to pick one over the other, but I most admire my parents. They both play such an important role in my life and inspire me to be the best me every single day. Without them and their support, even at the lows, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve nearly the things that I have and for that I admire them most.
Educational goals: My short term educational goal is to keep my spot as 4th in the class for Ashley High school and graduate as a top ten contender. I plan to attend Gardner Webb University to major in biology and then continue to medical school.
Career goals: My goal is that after medical school I will enter the medical field as a PA or possibly look into the field of clinical research.
For Erik Graf, varsity women's soccer coach, how does this student’s exemplary behavior illustrate the goals your school is pursuing? The stated mission of Ashley High School is "…a drive for excellence through achievement, honor, and service." Mackenzie ("Kenzie" or "Kenz") exemplifies each of these missions. She is an excellent student who is ranked in the top of her class. She has consistently excelled in the classroom despite being involved in numerous extracurricular activities which consume her time. Kenz is highly thought of by her coaches, classmates, and teammates. She was voted Ashley HS homecoming princess her junior year and queen her senior year. She is well liked by her peers whether the setting is in athletics, on campus, at her job, or in the community. Kenz has been selected as a captain by both her coaches and teammates in high level club soccer and with Ashley High School soccer. Kenzie routinely puts others above herself participating in many volunteer activities. She also serves her fellow Ashley students by participating in many functions within the student body and specifically as president of the Wings Club. Kenz also serves the some 200,000 high school student-athletes across the state of North Carolina having been selected as one of only 16 North Carolina student-athletes to serve on the NCHSAA Student Athlete Advisory Council. Mackenzie Farr is an invaluable asset to her team, school, and community and richly deserves any and all consideration for recognition as a "student achiever."
