Flu Season Exclusion Guidance, Curriculum Management Audit, and Report Cards

Main Thing 1 - Flu Season & COVID Rules

Flu season is here and unfortunately that means more people are getting sick. If your student has primary COVID-19 symptoms (new and persistent cough, temperature of 100.4 or higher, chills, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of taste or smell), they must stay home from school for ten days, unless they test negative for COVID-19. All schools have test kits on site to test symptomatic students who have parent/guardian permission on file. If you haven’t filled out a permission form (this allows staff to test your student for COVID-19 at school) and would like to, please contact your school. If your student is sick, but does not have primary symptoms, we follow our normal exclusion guidance (see page 12 of this document from OHA).

Main Thing 2 - Need Your Input!

We are working to get a better sense of what’s working and what could be improved in our school district in a process called a curriculum management audit. But we need your input! If you haven’t already, please take this survey (Spanish survey). The survey will close at midnight on October 17th. The survey is anonymous and goes directly to the curriculum management audit team. We will be using the results to improve our system for students!

Main Thing 3 - Viewing Student Grades

If you want to check your student’s grades, you will need to log in into Parentview or Canvas. Middle and high school students have their mid-quarter progress reports available on Parentview. We have step-by-step instructions about logging into Parentview here.

If you would like to view your student’s day-to-day activities and assignments, you will need to log on to Canvas. We have step-by-step instructions for logging onto Canvas here! Important note: To log in to canvas, you will need to reach out to your student’s teacher for an access code.

If you have any questions, give our helpdesk line a call 541-842-1111 or call your school.

Other Thing - Hispanic Heritage Month

Each year, American’s observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th. Many of our students celebrated and embraced Hispanic history and culture this year by reading stories, creating art, and trying foods popular in Hispanic culture!
