This Week at Windsor...

#WEAREWINDSOR

December 3rd, 2021

Windsor Families,

December is here, I can't believe it! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a restful week.

Today, we honored our Mr. Frank (FOM) with the Heroic Heart of Gold Award. Frank was nominated by current and former Windsor staff, we are so excited to share that he was chosen as the recipient of this award! Frank is so deserving of this award, he truly keeps Windsor running and is one of the most calm, patient, and kind people I know. This week, the students made him cards of congrats, and today we honored him with a presentation and parade. Please check out the video link here:

Drop and Go Reminders:

As the weather gets cooler, more parents choose to drive their children to and from school. It is imperative that you follow the procedures for our Windsor Drive drop and go. Please share this information with the person that drives your child to school.

Arrival- please pull all of the way up to the car in front of you, this may mean you pass the door that your child enters school. We have staff outside monitoring our students and will ensure that your child makes it into the building.

Dismissal- There is NO parking on Windsor Drive. Please do NOT get out of your car, you will need to move your car up in the line as the line moves. If you feel you need to get out of your car to wait for your child, please park on a side street and walk up to Windsor Drive. We will have the Arlington Heights Police Department spot-checking our dismissal on Windsor Drive, please do not exit your car.

Stella's Station

It's that time of the year where holiday decorations seem to be popping up everywhere. Put a little STEM twist on your typical decorating and make some crystal snowflakes this weekend. You can find the directions HERE. Once your snowflakes are done and dry, they look beautiful in a window, on a tree, or as a gift to someone special. You can make other shapes too! If you make one, I'd love to see it! Send me a picture! (vstella@sd25.org). Have a great weekend!

Get Burbed Challenge

Mark your calendars for April 30, 2022 for the 10th ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge! We are looking forward to having our district students, families and staff together again for our 5K and 1 Mile events! Please follow ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge on Facebook or Twitter for all race information or visit us at abcchallenge.org. We hope to see all our Windsor Wildcats there!

It's time to let your imagination run (pun intended) wild! All D25 students have the opportunity to submit a design for the ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge official race shirt and posters! These shirts will be worn by close to 1000 participants at the ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge on April 30, 2022. The design winner also gets to help select the color of the shirt! Official rules and regulations and t-shirt design forms can be found at abc25challenge.org/tshirt. Submissions are due back to your school office by December 3, 2021. Please follow ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge on Facebook or Twitter for all race information or visit us at abc25challenge.org. We hope to see everyone there!

Notes from the front office...

The office will not interrupt classroom instruction time to call students down for forgotten items. If your child forgets an item, please put his or her name and teacher on the item and place either on the blue cart in the front foyer or the grade level bins in the office. Remind your child that if they have forgotten something to please check their grade level bins in the office.

If your child will be tardy please leave a message on the Absence Hotline and indicate if they will need lunch.

If your child needs to leave school early please let the classroom teacher and the office know ahead of time when possible. This will assure your child is ready to leave when needed and will let your child know if dismissal plans have changed.

Lunch Information

Please note that students who choose to pack a meal from home are invited to take a bag with milk that will also contain a fruit, vegetable, and grain at no charge. If your child has food allergies or food intolerances, please work with them to identify what they can consume from this bag, should they decide to pick it up.

All of these bagged items will be wrapped. If a student chooses not to consume all items, those may be placed on a table in the eating area so as to not be wasted.

As a reminder, lunch is free this school year for all District 25 students.
