World News
"Every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities. And to the children of our country, regardless of your gender, our country has sent you a clear message: Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before." -Kamala Harris, Vice President-Elect of the United States of America
Staff Spotlight
This month's Staff Spotlight goes out to our hardworking Guidance Counselors! Ms. Valachovic (6th grade), Ms. Habel (7th grade), and Ms. Bennetone (8th grade) have worked tirelessly this year to support our students and our school. We are so grateful to them for their commitment to our community! Thank you for all that you do!
Take Care of Yourself
MIND: Learn about Indigenous Cultures! Soon it will be Thanksgiving, a celebration of the survival of English colonists in the US thanks to the help of Native Americans. Visit this website to pick and watch a documentary about indigenous (native) cultures from around the world! (Picture of Colleen Cooley, a Navajo River Guide, from the film/article "Water Flows Together," by Palmer Morse, Taylor Graham, and Matt Mikkelson) | BODY: Go For a Walk or Try a Workout Video! Exercise can be way more fun if we do it with a friend or family member! Grab someone close to you and go for a walk around the neighborhood looking for early Christmas-decorators or the most beautiful Fall tree you can find. If the weather is bad, try a YouTube video like this yoga video or this upbeat dance workout. Choose something active that sounds fun to you! | SPIRIT: Reflect with Lists! Need a little pick-me-up? Try writing some lists! You might consider writing a list of things you are grateful for, things you like about yourself, or even just all of the goods things that happened to you that day! Sometimes the simple act of writing out something positive can lift your mood. It'll also keep you focused on the best parts of your day (like a yummy breakfast or how cute your dog is) instead of dwelling on what may have gone wrong. |
