No, it is not a school-sanctioned activity.

I remember seeing a 1984 article about Thomas Worthington that gave me a chuckle. But first, let me offer a little context.

In my world, the sky is always falling. Things are always going downhill. Students are always behaving so much worse than in the good old days!

When this article popped up a few years ago, I paused. My takeaway, after working with kids for 23 years, is that kids are kids. Kids struggle. Kids behave like kids. The issues, the language, the music, the slang, and the technology all change, but ultimately, our school is and has always been full of young people trying to find their place and navigate an ever-evolving world.

So, I will remind parents of my annual announcement: Senior tag is not a school-sanctioned event. We would never condone kids sneaking around on private property, speeding away in a car, or running around naked to avoid "getting shot." In a world where we regularly see news stories about deadly confrontations on private property, supporting this "game" would be completely irresponsible. There are also plenty of issues that are well known regarding guns and gun-like items in school. Truthfully, every year I am concerned about seniors making it through senior tag safely.

Prom, on the other hand, is definitely a school-sanctioned event! It's one that is fun, exciting, and planned years in advance. This year's prom at The Bluestone on May 6 is no exception. Please help us keep kids safe by ensuring that pre- and post-dance activities are appropriate and safe.

Raising kids is not easy. It takes teamwork. It takes communication. It takes intentional effort. I appreciate your help as we work together to prepare and grow the future parents and leaders who will take over this important task from us.

The main visitor entrance has moved to Door 16 (back, center of the building). Doors 1 and 2, along with most of the south side of the building, will only be accessible to construction vehicles and emergency vehicles. All visitors must enter through Door 16. It is our normal location for student drop-off and pick-up before and after school by car. This procedure will not change, although there is designated visitor parking and the entrance will be staffed throughout the day. (Here is a map of the property if you need it.)

The Flock Talk Crew needs your pictures or short videos (~3 seconds) for our Senior Send Off video. These can be informal or formal images, hi-res, landscape-orientation preferred. These school-appropriate images should include current seniors - we want to include the entire class - besties, sporting groups, individual, extra-curricular events, in school, out of school, etc. So grab your camera phone and snap a pic of your clique then upload to our Google Drive link or email to voleary@wscloud.org by May 10, 2023. Ohio Law (ORC 3313.671) requires all 12th grade students receive two (2) doses of the Meningococcal vaccine. The second dose must be received after the student's 16th birthday.
