December 2021

2021-22 School Year!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! The holidays have started around campus with the 12 days of Christmas countdown. A Christmas calendar went home to highlight daily spirit wear to celebrate the 12 days before winter break. We are currently collecting blankets, socks, non-perishable food, and boy/girl toys to help stuff the bus for the Winter Extravaganza at WHS. As a campus, we will collect items until December 7th! In addition to serving our community, we are also partnering with Brownie Books to provide our 3rd- 5th-grade students an opportunity to become a published author. An application went home on November 30th for interested participants with details on how to enter the contest. We can't wait to have our very own student-published author on campus! Best of luck to all that enter! Lastly, please review the list below for campus happenings. Happy Holidays!

Our next meeting January 18, 2022- Shackelford Cafeteria 6:00 PM

Our current PTO President is Amy Ogletree. Please e-mail Mrs. Ogletree at if you are interested in details about PTO. We have had a great parent involvement response. Shackelford is successful because of our parents. Thank you for the support.

Volunteer Information

We are giddy about having parents back on campus! Here is the NEW information for volunteering at Shackelford or any WISD campus(including field trips).

Please click on the link & click “Register Now.”

  1. Go to

  2. Click on 'Volunteer'

  3. Click on 'Register Now"

  4. Fill in the blanks and submit

Once you, the volunteer, submits the information, the system will automatically process the background check. We no longer need a volunteer form filled out and we don't need a copy of the driver's license.

This is the portal you will go into each time you need to log your volunteer hours. (Examples of volunteering: cooking/baking/buying goods for teacher appreciation, field trip chaperones, making copies for teachers, helping at any PTO event, participating in class parties, etc.)

Once you register, you WILL NOT have to re-register every year! The system will remember you and send an email to you next year to verify you want to be reactivated as a volunteer. When you click agree and choose the campus and/or program you want to volunteer for, the system will run a NEW background check and you are done!
