NO SCHOOL MONDAY, JANUARY 16
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. HOLIDAY
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by Kayla Bell
Dear Families –
Welcome Back! I hope you had the opportunity to relax and reconnect with friends and family over the holiday break.
Now that we are back, I want to take this opportunity to be sure you have a few important dates on your radar. February 2, is a grading day for us. This means no school for students. Your child’s first report card will be sent home on Friday, February 9.
Beginning with this current school year, all elementary schools moved from a trimester progress reporting calendar to a semester reporting calendar. This is consistent with middle schools and high schools across the district. All levels will report student progress to parents four times per year. For elementary schools, this will be during fall and spring conferences, and at the end of each semester (February and June). Our secondary schools will report in November, February, April and June.
Spring conferences are approaching. Please note that there will be no school March 1 and March 2. Conferences will be offered February 28th and March 1. We will be sending home the link to sign up for conferences the week of February 12. Our goal is to connect with 100% of our families next month so that we may share your child’s goals and academic accomplishments. I do hope you plan to attend.
Our NRCO has also been working hard to plan some fun family nights. Our Volunteer Orientation and BINGO night is scheduled for January 18. We also have a family dance coming February 8. Please mark your calendars.
Thank you for your continued support. Enjoy your three-day weekend.
Kayla

Get your dancing shoes ready for our annual Nancy Ryles Family Dance brought to you by the NRCO, taking place on Thursday February 8th from 6:00-7:30pm. This year's theme is Hawaiian! With a $2 donation at the door, you will receive a lei to wear and take home from the dance. Mark your calendars! As always, we are looking for some parent volunteers to help us with this event. Please log onto Better Impact to sign up for a shift, we appreciate your help as always!
Culture Night: Come celebrate our schools many different cultures, March 15th 6pm-8pm. We want you to be involved! Come share your culture in dance, clothing, music and arts. Flyers were sent home today and we have also attached the flyer for your convenience.
Thank You for labeling your kids coats and lunch boxes! We've been able to return many items to their owners this year. However, some lost items are still piling up, many there since the first weeks of school. It's time to donate unclaimed items to the Beaverton Coat Closet so please take the next two weeks to check for any lost items. Items will be available until January 26th. Parents are allowed to check for lost items between 3:10 pm & 4 pm, and kids can look during school hours.
Label Hats, Gloves and Scarves! During the last Winter cold spell, huge amounts of hats and gloves landed in the lost and found never to see their owners again. Any item clearly labeled will be returned to the child even if they forget to look for it. But, remember, if we can't read it, we can't return it.
Let's keep being proactive this year and continue to embrace the found in lost & found. And don't forget to label lunch boxes and water bottles too.
