Queen of Apostles School
Term 4 Week 7 - Thursday 24 November 2022

Annual Community Meeting
There was a fantastic turn out at the Annual Community Meeting last night and I would like to thank our community for their support.
It has been a big year and it was great to highlight some of our achievements throughout 2022. 2023 promises to be another exciting year with staff changes and future projects that will add another dimension to our school.
It is also exciting that our families will receive a 5% reduction in fees as Paul highlighted in his report. The new fee schedule will be on the website soon.

Year 1 Assembly
Well done to Mrs Salvia, Mrs Kuhn and the Year One Class on a wonderful assembly item this morning. The Twelve Months of Year One was very entertaining and a great reflection on some of the highlights of the year. It always amazes me how confident our students are when performing in front of an audience. Well done to all involved!
Transition Morning
Next Wednesday from 9.30 until 10.30am we have our transition morning.
Each class will be moving to their 2023 classrooms to meet their new teacher and become familiar with the environment. We even welcome our new Kindy children to school on that morning. There will be lots of excited students and teachers next Wednesday and it promises to be a fun morning.
Colour Explosion – 25th November
We hope the weather tomorrow is perfect for the Colour Explosion and getting wet.
Parents can you make sure that the children have everything they need including a white t-shirt, old runners which you don’t mind getting wet and a towel. I’m looking forward to a fun filled afternoon!
Christmas Concert
This year we are very excited to be putting on a Christmas Concert for our community on Thursday 1st December. Each class from Kindy to Year 6 will be involved along with our choirs.
The concert will take place on the new grassed area and there will be a section roped off for picnic blankets with chairs behind. The students will be sitting with their class teacher.
The timetable for the evening is as follows:
5.30pm - Students to classrooms
5.45pm - Welcome & Prayer
5.50pm - P&F Book Awards
6.05pm - Farewells
6.15pm - Christmas Concert
7.15pm - Christmas Concert Concludes/ Parents to collect students from classroom teacher
Please keep this date in your dairy as it promises to be a special occasion. Watch out for an appearance from a very special visitor!
COVID
With the increase of COVID cases in the community it’s important to be vigilant at this time. Please look out for signs and symptoms and keep your children home if they are unwell. If any positive cases are detected please enter this onto the COVID portal so as a school we can plan accordingly. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
COVID Portal
It is still vitally important that parents and caregivers inform the school if their child tests positive for COVID-19.
Parents and caregivers can inform the school of their child’s positive or negative COVID result via this LINK - https://cewa-collections.powerappsportals.com/COVID-19-Self-Reporting-Form/
The information will go directly to me.
If a positive result is recorded via a RAT test it must also be registered on the WA Health RAT register website -
https://datalibrary-rc.health.wa.gov.au/surveys/index.php?s=WDLLNTW4RDX8AWPH
Please do not underestimate the importance of informing us of a positive COVID case. Your actions will ensure the risk to others is minimised and that we do our very best to limit the spread of the virus across our community.
Best Wishes
Mark Ryan

Vinnie’s Christmas Hamper Appeal
In keeping with the spirit of Christmas and our Term Four Value of Compassion, Queen of Apostles School will again be participating in the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal.
Last week, teachers sent a note home, asking your child to contribute an item to their class hamper. Kindly return your hamper items to the classroom teacher by Thursday, 1 December, 2022, in time for our handover presentation at our Gathering Assembly on Friday, 2 December, 2022. Please ensure that all items donated are non-perishable and well within the recommended ‘Use By’ date stamped on the packaging.
Last year, our hampers were amazing, overflowing with special treats for those families in the community who were experiencing hardship. Please help to make a difference to those in our local area who are less fortunate than ourselves. Please spread the joy of this holy season by supporting the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal.

Gilbert's SOS Program
Anyone who lives around the area would be familiar with Gilbert's Fresh Market in Willetton.
Gilbert's have been supporting local schools for a number of years now with their Support Our Schools (SOS) program. This program is free and available to all Gilbert's customers, and by signing up in store you can support Queenies too.
When you sign up to the SOS progam, Gilbert's donates 1% of the money you spend straight to our school, and for the month of November alone, Queenies families have contributed to a donation of $180, just by doing their regular shop at Gilbert's. So next time you are in store please ask about the SOS program and sign up to help increase our donations.
