From the Desk of Mrs. Rounds

It is crazy that it is already the first of September. Before you know it it will be "pumpkin spice" time followed by snow. Remember, Monday is Labor Day and there is no school.

Please keep reading for important updates and information.

As always, thank you for entrusting Bridge with your children's education.

See you Tuesday!

Fresh Fruit and Veggie Program (FFVP)

This is the BEST program to help kids develop healthy nutritional habits! Did you know many of our kiddos had NEVER eaten a grapefruit before? Did you know grapefruit provides an excellent source of vitamin C, potassium and fiber? Many of our kids LOVED it!

Parking Lot Reminders

Wow! On Thursday our parking lot was cleared by 3:46 - just 16 minutes after school released. Thank you for being patient and courteous and encouraging your students to follow the rules.

Don't forget, parents are ALWAYS invited to volunteer to help in the parking lot.Just show up 15 minutes before school is out, grab a yellow vest and ask the office how you can assist.

Rotations - This Week's Highlight - Specials

Each week your student attends several "specials". Specials include PE, health, Visible Learning, library, social studies, science, writing, fine arts and STEAM (grades 5 & 6). Specialist teachers work with the classroom teachers and each other to align and integrate lessons. For example, students may learn about volcanoes in science, read about volcanoes in reading and write about volcanoes during writing.

COVID Updates

Bridge has adopted a COVID protocol that aligns with the current recommendations from the health department. The protocol can be found on our website at COVID PROTOCOL

Individuals who are not vaccinated are encouraged to wear a mask. If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID, individuals who MAY HAVE been in close proximity (within 6 ft. for 15 minutes) will be notified and asked to:

  • Quarantine for 10 days OR
  • Return to school (if they have no symptoms) but MUST wear a mask for 10 days.

Bridge continues to use lots of measure to ensure the environment is sanitized and students are using good hand hygiene practices. Beginning Tuesday teachers will use an electrostatic sprayer at the end of each day to further disinfect the classroom area and furniture. These were graciously donated to Bridge last school year by Roy City.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep your students home if they are not feeling well. COVID in children can include any number of symptoms such as:

  • Cough
  • Fever or chills
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Please remember to excuse their absence by calling (801)499-5180 or by using our online EXCUSAL FORM found on our website under the Student Data icon.

Fire Drill #1

Our first REAL fire drill - pulling the alarm and evacuating the building - was a success. Last year we did COVID-style drills where small groups of students evacuated at a time. We have a few tweaks to make to shorten the evacuation time, including changing the time of day for the drill (apparently at 3:00 lots of parents were in the parking lot and our littles were distracted with waves, hollers and kisses being thrown) and modifying the evacuation routes.

Volunteers at Bridge

Our school is now open for parents to volunteer in many capacities - wiping down lunch tables (daily 11:00 - 1:00), helping in the parking lot (3:30 - 3:50 M-TH and 1:30 - 2:00 F), donating to our Lunch for Safety Program, or helping in your child's classroom.

Visit our Volunteer Page for more information and to track your volunteer hours. Families who meet the 30 hour suggested amount of volunteer time will have their name placed in our Volunteer Pond in the front foyer.

Lost & Found

Once again our Lost & Found pile keeps growing. I am positive it is reproducing though the science says otherwise. We keep the container under the front portico and you can stop by day or night the next few days to take the items that belong to your kiddos.

NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

FREE / REDUCED Meals Application

Although meals are currently free, it is imperative that parents apply for FREE / REDUCED status. This is done through ASPIRE - simply login and complete the application using the link on the right side of the window.

FREE / REDUCED status provides the school with extra funding to help support our Title I at-risk program which includes morning supervision and BASE as well as intervention support for struggling students. This past year it also provided additional assistance for some students in the form of an electronic debit card. It also ensures that if we are no longer able to offer free meals, parents are already qualified for free/reduced status.

Instructions for accessing ASPIRE can be found on our website or by calling the office (801)499-5180.

Visible Learning

Students are learning about REFLECTION. This trait teaches students to review their learning to see what works and what ways they can improve.

Work with your students to practice these I WILL statements:

I will....

  • Look back
  • Listen to feedback
  • Learn about myself
  • Plan my next steps
  • Reflect often

Our mission is to empower students to take ownership of their own learning. By learning, practicing and embracing these visible learning traits, students will have the skills needed to become accountable for their own lifelong learning. You can find the six Visible Learning traits on our website at Visible Learning

Bridge Elementary

The mission of Bridge Elementary is to provide students with a personalized learning experience and empower them to take personal ownership and accountability for their own academic performance.
