Principal's Message
We are off to a great start to Semester 2, Quarter 3 at Ridgeline Middle School. At the end of Semester 1, students had to reflect on their grades, attendance, and behavior at school. They were provided with their data: current grades, number of absences, and number of discipline referrals if they have had any. Students then used that information to reflect on Semester 1 and set goals for Semester 2.
Students were informed that this data is tied to specific rewards, such as the End of Year trips when 6th and 7th graders go to Family Fun Center in Tukwila, and 8th graders go on an Argosy Cruise in Seattle. The Chocolate Fundraiser can help pay for fees for these trips, but students are not qualified to attend if they have out of school suspensions or more than 5 disciplinary referrals. More information will be sent out about the end of year trips in the coming weeks.
Discipline data is also tied to student eligibility for the March 24 Teen Night and end of the year events, such as the Extravaganza BBQ. So it is important for students to know their data. We will provide student data again at the end of Quarter 3 and ask them to track and reflect on their grades, attendance, and behavior at that time.
Students who made the Quarter 2 Honor Roll were celebrated with an ice cream social event. Each week, we recognize a Student of the Week from each grade level with a certificate and prizes. We also will recognize students who have perfect attendance so far this year. Teachers and staff also award STORMY Bucks to students for demonstrating the STORM traits (Successful, Trustworthy, Organized, Respectful, Motivated). Students can trade STORMY Bucks for prizes in the STORMY Store each Friday.
Parents can ask their students to share what they know about their current grades, attendance, and behavior. You can also ask if they have been awarded any STORMY Bucks each week.We enjoy rewarding students for their efforts and hard work, and we will continue to do so to help students be their best selves in Semester 2.
We look forward to connecting with parents at Spring Conferences on March 29, 30, and 31. As always, we appreciate our partnership with parents in helping us to best serve our students and families.
Thank you for supporting Ridgeline!

CONFERENCE SCHEDULING IS OPEN IN SKYWARD!
You are invited to Spring Parent Conferences at Ridgeline Middle School on Wednesday, March 29, Thursday, March 30, and Friday, March 31, 2023.
This year Spring Conferences will be arena-style, which means that all teachers will be at tables in either the Commons or the Auxiliary Gym for parent convenience. Parents will sign up by teacher through Skyward for ten-minute conferences.
Skyward sign-up for conferences opened on Friday, March 10 at 10:00a.m.. Parents should try to schedule each of their conferences on the same day and as close together as possible to avoid having to come to the building on multiple days.
The purpose of parent conferences is to connect with your child’s teachers in-person. If you cannot make it in-person and need to schedule a Zoom conference, please let your teachers know in advance so they can provide a Zoom link. If you would like a language translator, please contact the teacher or counselor to inform them so that we can communicate through a translator on the phone.
During each 10-minute conference, teachers will share current progress, positive observations about your child, and areas for growth and improvement. It will also be a time for you to ask questions and provide information about your child that may help teachers to further build strong student-teacher relationships.
If you are in need of a meeting longer than 10 minutes with a specific teacher (or if a teacher is not available to meet at the time you are present and you want to schedule another time), counselors will be available to schedule that meeting for a later date. In the parent survey after conferences, we will ask for your feedback on your school and conference experience.
See contact information for counselors below:

- Ms. Jansen (student last name L-Z) 360-400-0914, email: stacey_jansen@ycs.wednet.edu
Please note that teachers select whether they will be available during Monday and Tuesday evenings in addition to the afternoon conference times or be available during all three days of conferences during the afternoons only. Please check the availability of all your child’s teachers before scheduling each conference through Skyward. **Please communicate with your teacher directly if you are unable to schedule. The office is unable to schedule for you**.
Please see below for directions how to schedule your conferences through Skyward (this can also be found on our website by going to www.ycs.wednet.edu/ridgeline.
We encourage all parents to bring their child to Spring Conferences.
We look forward to seeing parents and students on March 29, 30, and 31, 2023.
