Dear Northwood Community,
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend, got some rest and had some fun! It always feels like we are really into the swing of things after Labor Day. We have already been in school for more than three full weeks and we really moving with our academics. Next week we will have early dismissal on Sept. 14 and 15 for parent-teacher conferences. If you have not already signed up to meet with your child's teacher, please be on the lookout for a sign up sheet. This will be an important time for you to find out how your child is currently performing and what skills they will working on to make it a successful year.
Tonight we have our first general PTA meeting. Please join us at 6:00 in the cafeteria to find out our how school and community work together to make this the best school around! After the short meeting everyone is invited to come out to the gym and play. We will have all of our favorite equipment out and the rock wall will be open. you don't want to miss it!
Also, this week we are inviting our grandparents to come celebrate their special day by having lunch with their grandchild. We are so excited to have this event back. Please see below for more information. Don't forget to let us know you are coming.

Grandparents Day Lunch On Friday, September 9, grandparents are invited to come have lunch with their grandchild to celebrate Grandparents Day. Please let us know you are coming by completing the Google Form: Grandparents Day RSVP Everyone will be required to present a picture ID and receive a visitor's badge through the Raptor system on the day of the event. Completing the RSVP form will allow us to pre-print the badges and make the sign in process quicker. Click on THIS link for a list of lunch times. We are happy to be able to celebrate our grandparents in this way! | Picture Day Sept. 16 We will have individual picture day on September 16. Everyone will have their picture taken. If you like to order pictures, they must be paid for in advance. You can fill out the order envelope that will be sent home later this week and send cash (exact change only) or check or you can order online at www.strawbridge.net and use the code FM393999 | School Absences Our goal is for all of our students to maintain outstanding attendance (95%). The best way to learn is by being present at school. If you child needs to be absent due to illness, please be sure to send a note to school the day they return explaining the reason for the absence. Absences for illness and medical appointments will be excused with a written note. |

4th Grade Art - Attention 4th grade parents, or any parent or guardian who loves creating art. Friday, September 9th is 4th grades’ art lessons. If you would like to volunteer to help, please make sure you have your required DPS clearance, and email Amanda Bennett at amandakbennett@ymail.com (not Gmail) and let her know which class(es) you would like to help with! Ms. Gates’ class will be from 8:45-9:45, Mrs. Gonzales’ class will be from 9:50-10:50, and Mrs. Hackett’s class from 1:30-2:30.
PTA General Meeting: This Tuesday, Sep 6, 2022 at 6:00pm is our first general PTA meeting of the year. ALL are welcome! We will meet in the cafeteria for a short meeting to discuss some of the news and events planned for the year and then all families are invited to come out to the gym for a night of Fun Family Fitness. We hope you can join us!
We would love for you to join our PTA and show your support for our school. The JoinPTA.org is back up again! You can join online or send cash or a check for $7.00 for each membership. We encourage parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors to join.

Morning Routines and Drop OffOur school day is from 7:30 am - 2:45 pm. Students may enter the building as early as 6:50 am to eat breakfast. Please drop of your child next to the curb in the school parking lot. Student Safety Patrols will open your car door and assist your child. Please do not drop off your child on Pike Rd. or in the drive through lane. If your child arrives before 7:23 am they will wait in the following location K-1: Cafeteria, 2-5: Gym. Please have your child put a book in their backpack, so they can read while they wait. At 7:23 am the teachers will pick up the students and go to class. The tardy bell rings at 7:30 am, so please allow plenty of time. In order to ensure the safety of all our students, we ask that parents not come into the building in the mornings. The official green tag with your child’s name and grade will be sent home with your child today. If you need an extra one, please let your child’s teacher know. If you do not have a dismissal tag, you will be required to come to the front office and present an ID. If you do not have a temporary tag and you have time, please come early, or stop by the school office before dismissal.

Visitors on Campus
All visitors to campus will be required to present an ID and receive a visitors badge through the Raptor system in order to come into the building during the school day. We understand that this may not be convenient, but it is necessary in order to ensure safety.
