Quarter 3 Celebration Day
On April 18th, students on Honor Level 1 were invited to participate in this Quarter’s Celebration Day. The 5th and 6th grade students had a choice between going to the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie or staying on-campus for pizza and activities. The 7th and 8th graders had a choice between going to Sky Zone or staying on-campus for pizza and activities. Our students had a great time and are looking forward to earning the opportunity to attend Quarter 4 Celebration Day, the biggest one of them all! Stay tuned for more information about the activities that will be offered, and if your son or daughter is on Honor Level 2 or 3, encourage them to complete a Restoration Plan in order to return to Honor Level 1 and be eligible to participate.
Behavior Tip of the Month: Helping Children Learn Responsibility with Homework
~from Love and Logic
A powerful way of learning is by making small mistakes, experiencing the related consequences, and seeing that people around you still love you, even when you mess up. Children need to learn that it is GOOD to make mistakes, and to use those mistakes to grow.
Give your children plenty of opportunities to make decisions over small issues. Examples include giving your child a small allowance, allowing them to “choose” whether they remember to bring their lunch to school, or letting them decide whether they want to wear their coat or carry it.
Allow them to make a poor decision. Children learn to make good choices by making poor ones and experiencing the consequences.
Let empathy and logical consequences do the teaching. Empathy is the key! By being sad for our kids rather than being angry at them, they are allowed to focus on their poor choice rather than our anger.
Give them the same decision-making tasks again. This communicates a strong message: “We believe that you’ve got what it takes to learn from your poor decisions."
At Muskego Lakes...we have
MUSKY P.R.I.D.E
Promoting...
Respect - acting in a way that shows that you care about others’ feelings and well-being
Integrity -acting with honor by doing the right thing even when no one is looking
Determination - showing that you are trying your hardest and persevering when faced with challenges.
Engagement- feeling part of the community, and having voice and choice as a learner
Biweekly, we will be focusing and reviewing parts of the PRIDE matrix as a whole school. We will review these behavioral expectations and skills during morning announcements, as well as in individual classes.
April 29th - May 10th
Integrity: Care for Self
Integrity focuses on doing the right thing, even when no one else is looking. Having integrity while caring for yourself means that you act in a way that you can be proud of and take ownership of those actions. Examples may be committing a random act of kindness or admitting to something that you have done wrong and trying to make it right. Completing a Restoration Plan if needed is a good way to show integrity. So, have integrity and care for yourself so that you can learn, grow, and succeed.
May 13th - May 24th
Engagement- Care for Self
Engagement focuses on feeling part of the community, and having voice and choice as a learner. Being engaged with caring for yourself means that you do your part to make our community a positive environment for everyone. Examples may be picking up garbage in the hallway even if you didn’t make the mess or saying hello to someone in the hallway who isn’t in your friend group. So, be engaged and care for yourself so that everyone at Muskego Lakes can learn, grow, and succeed.

Warriors 101
Attention 8th grade families,
To help 8th grade students transition to the high school, MHS is running a program called Warriors 101. The purpose of the program is for incoming freshmen to meet upperclassmen, run through their class schedule/meet their teachers, tour the building, bond with peers, and learn about co-curricular opportunities at the high school. Check out the VIDEO to see if it may be something your child would be interested in attending. The program will be held on Wednesday, August 28th from 8am-12pm.
Please click HERE to sign up for the program.
Thank you for your support. We found last year's program to be a great success, and we have been working throughout this year to make further improvements. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Julia Hartig, Katie Van Ruden, Becca Hirtz, Kim Aide, or Erin Bittner
