Food Recycling Program at Bel Air

On January 9th, our students began using a new recycling table in the cafeteria. When students are finished with their lunch, they sort their items into three categories- trash, recycling, and food/beverages for animal feed. Students will be recycling milk cartons, juice boxes, and plastic bottles. Food and beverage waste is picked up by a farm where food scraps are heated, cooled, and fed to pigs. By recycling and collecting food and beverage waste, we will significantly reduce the amount of trash from our cafeteria at Bel Air.

PTA Winter Party - Wednesday, January 18th

A message from the health office

Cold and flu season has arrived. We have started seeing an uptick in illnesses, including the flu, common cold, and other respiratory illnesses across the community. Here are a few reminders to help keep your students, your family, and others healthy as we head into the holiday season:

  • Cover your cough

  • Keep your student home if they are not feeling well - find the guidelines here

  • Drink plenty of fluids

  • Wash hands frequently

  • Test for COVID (we have home tests available at school - just ask the Health Office if you would like one sent home or if you would like to pick one up)

Non-Academic Personal Property:

Students should not bring personal items such as toys, card collections, footballs, soccer balls or similar sports equipment to school. These items may be misplaced or stolen and can be a disruption to learning. If a teacher wishes to have students bring such items to school for a special event, parents will be notified. We appreciate your support.

Join Lego League Explore!

During this 14-week program, teams of students, led by parents/guardians, will explore, build and program a motorized LEGO model and create a presentation while also learning critical thinking and teamwork skills. Teams will present what they have learned to judges at a celebratory exhibition. LEGO League Explore is a great way to reinforce skills already used in the classroom while also strengthening parent/ guardian-child bonds.

Registration details available online! Register at mvpschools.org/RegisterCommunityEd.

Donations for meal account balances

Nutrition Services accepts donations as a safety net for students in grades K-12 who do not have sufficient funds in their accounts due to family circumstances beyond their control. Using these funds for students is a temporary solution until other arrangements can be made to assist the child and family on a more permanent basis. No student is denied a meal, regardless of the status of the family’s account balance.

Tax-deductible donations for meal account balance debt relief are accepted year-round from individuals or groups. You may also make a donation directly to your child's school. To donate, contributions should be dropped off or mailed to:

Riding the Bus and Food/Drink

While riding the bus, students are expected to keep all food and drink in their backpacks. This expectation prevents choking incidents, exposure to life-threatening allergens, and promotes bus sanitation.

Building Security Procedures

A visitor screening system helps track visitors and volunteers at each school, providing a safe and monitored environment for students and staff. When parents come to pickup their child(ren), or visitors check in, they will be asked to present a valid state issued ID for entering into the system.

Phone Numbers/Staff Directory

Staff phone numbers and email addresses are available on the Bel Air Website at: Bel Air Staff. To reach a teacher via email: firstname.lastname@mvpschools.
