The Connection Week 1 Term 3
Huapai District School 29th July 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Welcome to Term 3!
Welcome to the 13 new children and families that started this week.
Welcome Jason McKearney and Kirstin Robinson to our teaching team.
For me personally, it is so good to be back in school. I had last term on leave with a grant to take a sabbatical and do some study. I visited schools, attended some courses, read lots and researched the work from Gallup into strengths based leadership. It is (however) great to be back with the staff and your children. Special thanks to the team we have here that covered me during this time.
Whilst visiting other schools, it is so interesting how this can point you back to your own backyard. You’re inclined to look afresh at lots. From environment, to tone and culture, to resources and direction. NZ education and the educationists we have leading our schools is something to be proud of. I left many of the schools impressed with what they were doing but also very thankful and confident in what we have within our own school. It was great to measure ourselves against other schools and also test our direction and thinking against other educationalists. My overall impression is “we’re doing good stuff and where we are going is even better”.
Nice to be home again.
Have a good week.
John Petrie

Bricks 4 Kids
Does your child love Lego? We are pleased to be able to offer an after school wider opportunity this term. If your child is interested, please contact the Bricks 4 Kidz team directly to register.
These sessions will be in Studio 2 on Tuesday afternoons. There are limited spaces. Suitable for ages 6+.
Driving On School Grounds
The school driveway is reserved for emergency and staff vehicles only. We have noticed an increase in cars driving onto school grounds recently, especially at drop off and pick up times. This is a health and safety risk. We therefore request that you please park on the road when dropping off or collecting your child(ren).
We also ask that you please refrain from parking across the school driveway, even for a short period of time, as this prevents authorised vehicles from entering or exiting the school.
Massey High School Open Night
