APRES S.W.I.M. February '22
An Extraordinary Place to Learn
A Message From Principal Wilson
Greetings Dolphin Family,
Happy February! February is a special month for many reasons. The most important of them being Black History Month! This month, we will take a moment each day to reflect on special contributions that African-Americans have made to the world. We will also participate in ongoing activities to celebrate African-American heritage and have a culminating virtual Black History Month program.
It is hard to believe we are well into the second semester, and a few months away from the end of the school year. The second semester is significant to concluding the school year successfully in preparation for the next grade level and for our 5th graders the transition to Middle School. It is very important parents, for you to review grades in the Infinite Campus System-Parent Portal every 4.5 weeks. We are working to support students academically through the extended learning program after school on Mondays and Wednesdays, small group instruction in the classroom, Early Intervention pull-out support, and we will be rolling our our S.W.I.M Academy model for intense grade level support in March for grades 3, 4, and 5 in preparation of the Georgia Milestones Assessment.
Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for our Coffee and Convo discussion on Thursday, January 27th. We look forward to meeting with you again next month to discuss the Georgia Milestones Assessment and to provide you with resources to support your scholar with the test.
COVID Updates
Continuing with the district mitigation strategy, all schools will follow the instructions below for the upcoming week of February 7-11:
- Masks are optional in all Fulton County Schools buildings.
- Do not come to school/work if you are sick.
- We strongly encourage families to participate in vaccination and testing opportunities.
- Please follow public health guidelines and report any positive COVID-19 cases to the parent portals immediately.
- If your scholar has an in home exposure to COVID this must be reported to the portal as well.
- Please do not send scholars to school with pending COVID tests who have an in home exposure.
As we embark on Valentine's Day next week, please be reminded that absolutely NO food or candy items may be exchanged between students. Students will be allowed to exchange cards, but no edible items may be brought to school to be shared on Valentine's Day per FCS policy. Thank you in advance for your support and compliance with this request.
Dolphins, as you are aware, we are candidates for International Baccalaureate authorization. We anticipate our review for authorization in the near future. Please support us by engaging with your scholar about his/her transdisciplinary studies at school. Sharing in conversations about the school experience will help your scholar to invest even more in the IB Primary Years Programme.
Thank you parents for your continued support. We know deeply that a school is only as strong as its community and for you all we are grateful. I am excited about the wonderful things happening at Randolph for our scholars and even more for the impact it will have on our community at large.
In Partnership,
Principal Wilson
COVID-19 Updates
It is imperative that if your scholar has come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID19, if your scholar has tested positive for COVID19, or if he/she is awaiting test results, that this information is reported to the district Parent Reporting Portal immediately. The link below provides access to the Reporting Portal.
Parent COVID19 Reporting Portal
Please DO NOT send any students to school exhibiting any signs of illness, particularly those resembling COVID19 symptoms. Any student with the following symptoms will be required to be picked up from school immediately and asked to remain home until they are symptom free for 24 hours.
- Fever
- Congestion or Runny Nose
- Cough
- Headache
- Stomach ache accompanied with vomiting or diarrhea
Any child exhibiting any of the above symptoms will be sent to the nurse's office and immediate pick up is required.
Do know that it is our priority to continue to keep our staff and students safe and we need your support with doing so.
FORMER LATE START DAYS ARE NOW EARLY RELEASE DAYS FOR STUDENTS IN FCS
All Fulton County schools will participate in a total of two more early release days for the remainder of the 2022 school year. Schools will reserve the time for collaborative work in PLC's and job-embedded professional learning.
The research is clear: when teachers plan and collaborate about student progress, students benefit. Early release days will be used for professional development for FCS teachers and staff. School will start for scholars at 7:20 am and end at 12:20 pm.
APEC and afterschool daycare pick ups will continue on early release days. Someone must be at the bus stop to meet scholars when they exit the bus. Please plan to arrive by 12:10 for carpool.
The final early release days for this school year are:
- February 28
- March 21
