APRIL NEWSLETTER
Kraft Meadows Middle School
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
I hope everyone had a great spring break and is starting to enjoy the warmer weather. It is hard to believe that we are entering the final month and a half of a very interesting school year! It will be a busy few months for our students in the final push to the end of school. Our 8th grade students will be finishing up their state assessments this week (PSAT & M-Step). Our 7th and 6th grade students will be taking the assessments over the course of the next few weeks. (See dates below) Please encourage your student(s) to finish the year strong with outstanding effort and determination. The end of the school year is often a busy time, so please continue to check our website and your email regarding important dates and information. Also, please note, we will be making determinations regarding year end events (8th grade recognition, etc.) once we have guidance regarding state executive orders, health department recommendations, and administrative decisions. Thank-you for your continued support and please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Go Scots!

Support Room/COVID Information
We hope that Spring Break was a restful time for you. We are in the last few months of the school year and we are hoping to provide you as much support as possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us anytime.
Due to increasing case rates and variant spread in Michigan, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has reinstated the standard 14‑day quarantine period for individuals who have had close contact with someone with COVID‑19. KCHD is asking schools to follow the recommended 14 day quarantine for school contacts.
It is now a 24-day quarantine for close contacts. So the 10 days of isolation for the positive person + 14 days of quarantine for close contacts. However, we are now trying to work with families if they can truly isolate the positive case, to shorten the quarantine a little bit. So, instead of it being 20 days no matter what, it is 24, but they can work with the investigator to determine if shortening the quarantine is possible.
Your healthcare provider or testing facility may give you different information. Please call the school for the protocol for our district.
Please be sure to keep all family members home if anyone in the household is testing. This includes an Antigen Athletic test!
Please be sure to contact Mrs. Hullinger if anyone is testing, is exposed or any household family member tests positive. This includes an Antigen athletic test!
If you are keeping your child home for any reason, please let Mrs. Hullinger know why and how long.
Dress Code information
As the weather gets warmer, please review our dress code expectations. No spaghetti straps, no short shorts, skirts or dresses and no bare midriffs or cut off shirts. We are also seeing shirts with adult logo's and themes. These are also not appropriate for school.
Medication
Just a reminder, your student may not carry any medication with them at school. All medication must be brought, in the original container, unexpired, to the Support Room. The medication form on the school website must be filled out for your child to take any medication at school.

LOOKING AHEAD:
FinalForms will open to take registrations for the 2021-2022 school year on June 1, 2021 for Middle School Athletes. You will need to obtain a new Athletic physical for the 2021-2022 school year. The new physical needs to be dated by the physician after April 15, 2021 to be valid for the 2021-2022 school year.
All student-athletes will again be required to register in our online athletic registration program. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic participation forms for your students online. The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! You will review your information once per school year to verify the information is correct and sign the forms. Using FinalForms is a one stop shop for the entire registration process. Please use the Athlete Registration link that is provided on the Athletics Homepage and create a new account under the "Parent Login" portion. On the Athletics homepage, you will also see a link for the "Parent Playbook" which gives you step by step instructions through the registration process. You do not need to pay the athletic fee until the season you are registering your athletic for begins. The registration link is: https://caledonia-mi.finalforms.com
There is an Athletic fee of $75.00 per athlete per season, with a $250.00 limit collected per family, per academic year. (Middle School participation fees are separate from high school fees.)
