Unity Day
Our 2019-2020 Project Vinatta student coalition led us in supporting Unity Day. Staff and students sported orange clothing (Go Longhorns!) to show our intentions of inclusion, acceptance and kindness. We created a bulletin board with individual ideas about how to include and accept others. This is a one day celebration which we intend to carry on throughout the year. Thank you to parents for assisting us in our mission to create a welcoming school.

Together we are all better!
Good behavior pays off!
We love a good celebration!
APEX FUN RUN IN NOVEMBER
We will be participating in Apex Fun Run in November. Apex is a motivator for students and benefits the school with teaching supplies/materials. If you would like to volunteer to help, please contact Cynthia Gumbert by email cynthia_gumbert@lagovista.txed.net or 512 267-8300 extension 3504. This commitment will take approximately one hour on Friday, November 22 from 2:00-3:00. We will need help in marking the laps that students run during the Fun Run. Thank you for supporting our students and our school!

Attendance is Important
Please remember that your child is missed when he/she aren't at school. One of the most important things your child can do to achieve academic success is also one of the most basic: going to school every day.
Research has shown that your child's attendance record may be the biggest factor influencing his/her academic success.
Your commitment to attendance sends a message to your child that education is a priority for your family, going to school is a critical part of educational success, and that it's important to take your responsibilities seriously - including going to school.
ATTENDANCE THIS WEEK
Fourth Grade 98.41%
Fifth Grade 94.80%
Total Attendance 96.53%
Fourth Grade Wins this Week! Our Goal is 98% for fourth and fifth grade.
TARDY REMINDER...
Tardy Reminder...
Please help us make sure your child is in your classroom by 7:45. Tardies are given if your child doesn't make it to his/her classroom by 7:45. After three tardies, a lunch detention or after school detention is assigned. We remind your child to:
1. Set an alarm
2. Lay out clothes and backpacks ready the night before
3. Allow time for breakfast at home or school
Thanks for your help!

Guidance lessons
In guidance we are working on making and maintaining friendships. We role-played and partnered to discuss how to deal with various friendship issues. We played Friend or Frenemy Jeopardy to review healthy vs. not healthy relationships. I am always here to assist your child in managing friendships.
Here are some additional ideas to assist your child in his/her friendships.
