Norovirus gastroenteritis is caused by a virus in the digestive system. Common names used for gastroenteritis due to norovirus are ‘gastric flu’ or ‘stomach flu’, ‘winter vomiting’ and ‘viral gastro’. The illness often begins suddenly and symptoms last between 24–48 hours.Symptoms usually begin 24–48 hours after ingestion of the virus, but they can appear as early as 12 hours after someone is exposed to the virus.
Noroviruses are highly contagious. People infected with norovirus can spread the virus from the day they start to feel ill to at least 2 days after diarrhoea or vomiting stops.
We ask that you keep children home from school for at least 48 hours after they have contracted gastro so as not to perpetuate the virus.

The Family Businesses of Holy Rosary
The Business Directory is a group of school businesses who want to support our School Community.
We are delighted to welcome four new school family listings to our Businesses Directory
These businesses can help us out in the areas of 4WD (Russell Richardson), Kids Entertainment (Elena Capolingua), Real Estate (Chris Tan) and Photography (David Broadway) – areas that that will appeal to all of us!
Our Holy Rosary Graphic Designer – Gillian Gavin of GG Grafix has been the glue that has been pulling the Business Directory amendments together for us. Thank you Gillian!
An updated online edition will be ready for view in the next week or so.
As a Parent Community we would love to see a culture of thinking Holy Rosary first! Please have a look through the directory to see what these businesses might be able to do for you. If you would like to be listed please contact Mark Nolan on firstname.lastname@example.org.
WOW!! The Book Week Parade was fantastic!! Thank you so much to students, parents and staff for all the effort they went to to dress up as their favourite book character. The “Escape to Everywhere” theme has been lots of fun. Thank you also to our amazing Library Monitors for running the assembly - you did a great job! All are welcome to look at our Book Week Art in the library. It will stay up until the end of term. I hope you all had a fabulously fun day and a wonderful Book Week 2017.

‘Central Park Plunge’ - Please help support my fundraising efforts in support of hospitalised children whose families need help provided through Ronald McDonald house.
I’m not sure if you’ve heard of the ‘Central Park Plunge’ where teams of people commit to raise money for a nominated charity by abseiling 220m down the side of the Central Park building in the city centre. It’s a high-profile activity designed to get people out of their comfort zone (which is about 51 above my comfort zone). I’m taking the plunge on Friday 9 September.
Below is a link to the website where people can make a tax-deductable donation.
Thank you - Clint Hounsham
