Updates from Manassas Park Middle School - 1/18/2019
Week 20 - SOL Tests and the End of the Semester!
Next week features a Holiday on Monday and the end of first semester. For all elective classes, the last time they will meet will be on Tuesday (A day classes) or Wednesday (B day classes.) Please take a moment this holiday weekend to check on grades and make sure everything is turned in. The minimum goal for all students is NO ZEROS in their grade book for each class - including IXL's and especially all projects!
Finally, have a happy three day weekend from MPMS to all of our families. If you are looking for something fun to do as a family, the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Bristow is having an outstanding Martin Luther King Jr concert celebration. If you purchase tickets from the link below, you will get 50% off tickets for all students. If you are taking college or career classes with a student ID, you also qualify for the discount! It should be a wonderful (and educational) performance!
Looking for something to do at 3 pm on Sunday? Check this out!
Hello from the Hylton Center!
Students will receive 50% off Hylton Presents performances, including the upcoming sensation, We Shall Overcome: A Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m. Hear the compelling words of the great Martin Luther King, Jr. interwoven with music created by African-American artists during the Civil Rights movement in this inspired production. Conceived and created by award-winning musical artist Damien Sneed, We Shall Overcome blends actual recordings of Dr. King’s speeches with live music from African-American traditions, tying together a lineage of music and culture that includes traditional gospel, modern gospel, classical, jazz, Broadway, and spirituals.
“Damien Sneed is an ambassador for classical and gospel music…he uses his artistry to make our world a better place.” (Wynton Marsalis)
As always, we greatly appreciate your willingness to share this information with your students and their families.

Come check out the MPMS Book Fair! Feb 4-15!
During our Book Fair, February 4-15 during school hours, the Library Learning Commons is transformed into a book store! We'll receive a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level, and all purchases benefit our school!
Our purpose for the Book Fair is to give students a chance to choose books for the library, since students’ long-term reading habits increase when they are allowed to make their own choices about the books they read. The library receives books from the fair as our profit, and we are usually able to get all of the books that the students choose.
You can use the new online eCash feature to give your child money to spend at the Book Fair. You establish a limit, and your credit card is not charged until after your child makes their purchase. See the Book Fair Home Page for more information.
More information is available on the Book Fair Home Page http://www.scholastic.com/bf/mpms
The schedule for class visits can be found on the calendar on the library's Canvas course https://mpcs.instructure.com/courses/2426
