NCCS is a credit recovery program available to Nassau County students in grades 9-12 who want to graduate with a standard high school diploma. In addition to taking high school courses, students can participate in Career and Technical Education, Dual Enrollment, and Post-Secondary Adult Vocational (PSAV) classes.

Habitat of Penguins
Students in Mrs. Wheeler's class at Callahan Elementary have been studying penguins' habitats. During science, students observed how penguins survive in their harsh arctic habitat. They colored a penguin with a white crayon that acted as the penguin's skin. They got to squirt water on their penguin and observed the water bubble up from the crayon. The water didn't soak the penguin because the skin was like a waterproof jacket keeping the penguin warm.
9/11 Hero Visits Wildlight
Fifth Graders at Wildlight Elementary had a special guest visitor, Mr. Niels Jorgensen, a former New York City firefighter and rescuer who was a part of 9/11. They have been reading about the history of this tragic day in class and were so excited to meet this inspirational man who has helped so many people! He explained the events that happened that day and related them to books they had been reading. He tied in character traits, and the students learned a great moral lesson from him.
Positive Pirates
Students at Southside Elementary received Positive Pirate Referrals and worked hard during reading small groups.
Ice Cream in a Bag
Fifth-grade students at Wildlight Elementary celebrated finishing all of their beginning-of-the-year testings. They made ice cream in a bag and incorporated the scientific method. Students used different liquids to see if they made a difference in creating their ice cream.
Library Exploration
Students at Emma Love Hardee Elementary explored the media center and learned library policies and procedures by completing a back-to-school scavenger hunt.
Appreciation in the Hive
Yulee Primary School teachers and staff showed love for their bus drivers by greeting them with warm cinnamon rolls one morning.
