Grade Five Teachers awared CB Cares Innovative Learning Grant!
Fifth Grade House Project!!
Much like in the world of Harry Potter, "Houses" create a sense of collaboration, inclusion, and engagement. They have been shown to generate excitement in children, and to have academic benefits as well as social-emotional ones. As we know, when kids are really excited about school, they are happier and they tend to learn more. It’s a proposition supported by scholarly research tying a heightened sense of belonging to increased achievement.
Congratulations to our fifth grade teachers in this innovative endeavor!!
Emotional Wellness- Article Review Part 2
Dear Pine Run Families,
When it comes to Emotional Wellness, there appears to be no quick-fix, or one right answer.
As I read the Psychology Today article entitled, 10 Reasons Teens Have So Much Anxiety Today, I thought about our students' formative years at Pine Run, and how we seek to counter and combat anxiety-inducing influences. In today's fast-paced world, I believe it is necessary for parents, teachers, and our community as a whole to collectively explore, question, and consider both the stressors that influence our children, along with the de-stressors that help students effectively cope with daily life and periodic struggle.
Below are the second two influences named in the 10 Reasons Teens Have So Much Anxiety Today article. I will continue to address the remaining named stressors in subsequent newsletters. This full article is linked below, along with resources that provide insights to better guide our decision-making in the days and years ahead.
