In cased you missed it:
Mark Hildreth's assistant, Paola De Avila, was reassigned to Southern Lee after the ESL teacher resigned. We learned this week that Rosaldba Sanchez will begin assisting Mark 5 hours each week. Rosaldba just completed her student teaching at Deep River Elementary. We are very fortunate to have her coming into help us. Please make sure she feels welcome when she is here.
SLMS PTSO met Thursday afternoon to discuss plans for next year. Their goal for next year is to support our classrooms and teachers. The following are ideas they are planning for next year:
- Supply closet for all classrooms for teachers to be able to get Kleenex, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, etc.
- PTSO Thrift Store funds (allocated at the end of Sept) will be used to give each teacher a $100 Visa Gift Card to use for classroom supplies.
They would like to do McTeacher Night at our local McDonalds and utilize Kona Ice as a fundraiser whenever we have large crowds like Open Houses and Meet the Coaches Nights. Our PTSO Board is open to suggestions and feedback from you. Please see Drea Wright-Thompson, Tina Harrington, Angie Carter, or myself. If you are interested in being the teacher representative on our board for next year, please let me know.
I received word that we will be receiving Chromebooks for our 8th grade to use for testing this year. Shannon and I discussed that we will not be checking these laptops out to students. She will be assigning class sets to 8th grade teachers. The reason that eighth grade was chosen was because that grade level takes more online end of grade assessments. Our fingers are crossed that we will have Chromebooks for all students and teachers next year.
I am currently completing Summative rubrics in NCEES for all teachers. You will be receiving information soon about Summative conferences and end of year PDP completion. Kisha and I will be completing this since Natalie is deep in testing mode right now. Our goal is to get this completed in May.
