Introduction
History
The history of the diesel pick up started when GM started putting Diesel engines in their trucks in 1978. The first diesel engine for pick ups was the 5.7L Oldsmobile diesel. The engine did not give much power so it was used in cars and smaller pick ups.

In the United States there are three main companies that make diesel pick ups. Dodge, Chevy, and Ford all make mid-size diesel pick ups. Each one has been making these trucks since the mid to late 70's and all three compete to make the best and most dependable truck.
