FAFSA Overview

Financial Aid

FAFSA- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to determine a student’s eligibility for all types of federal and state financial aid. Completing the FAFSA or submitting an official FAFSA Opt-Out Form is a Texas Graduation Requirement. You can submit your proof of completion by logging into SchooLinks or you can contact your counselor for assistance. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

Students not eligible to complete the FAFSA may be able to complete the TASFA. Only specific students qualify to complete the TASFA, see your counselor for more information.

THE FAFSA IS NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSION.

PRIORITY FINANCIAL AID DEADLINE IS JANUARY 15TH!

Scholarships- We keep an extensive Scholarship List on our website that is updated regularly. Check there periodically to see which ones you want to apply for.

Got questions about college financial aid and the FAFSA? Join us on October 27th from 6:30-7:30pm as a college financial aid representative shares the ins and outs of this process.

SchooLinks for College Applications

SchooLinks

SchooLinks is an all-in-one student success platform that allows students to explore college and career readiness. At Plano Senior High School, it is also an important part of the college admission process. All students have access through an app linked to their Webdesk. Below are some resources to help you navigate the program.

Students will use SchooLinks to request transcripts, teacher recommendation letters and track other important parts of the college admission process.

College Applications

Apply Texas- This is the most widely used college application for our students. If you are planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college or university in Texas, create and account and start applying! https://applytexas.org/

The Common App- More than 1000 colleges and universities around the country accept The Common Application. Create your account and start applying here: https://www.commonapp.org/

Transcripts

A transcript is a record of all the classes the student has taken grades 9-12 (and will include HS credits earned during middle school if applicable.) Here's what to do if you need one:

  • Personal Copy: From the Webdesk, log into SchooLinks and select "School" and "Transcript Request" to download an unofficial copy for your personal use.
  • Official Copy (for college applications): From the Webdesk, log into SchooLinks and add the school to your College Application Manager. An official transcript request will automatically be sent (12th grade only)
