The Rideau Report

September 2021

Ready for the first day!

It is so exciting to welcome all of our students back for another amazing year at Rideau! Bienvenue les Rhinos! We hope you are looking forward to the first day as much as we are. The staff has been working hard to get the classrooms and the common areas ready to open on Tuesday.

The first day will be busy. We remind parents not to park on McDonnell street as this is where buses will unload. Please use the Park street gate or the Toronto street gate to drop off your child. Because of COVID restrictions, parents cannot come onto the yards, but we have staff and volunteers who will welcome your child and direct them to the right muster spot. Children drop off should be around 9:05 for the first day. Parents of kindergarten children have a different process which was shared with them already. Everyone needs to wear a mask when on school property. Dismissal will be at 3:35.

Parents must screen their children daily to ensure they are not experiencing any COVID symptoms. Here is the link to the government screening tool. Sick children should remain home. Children who develop COVID like symptoms during the day will be isolated until a parent can pick them up.

Students should bring their backpacks, lunch with enough food for two nutrition breaks (be mindful that we have nuts and peanuts allergies), and a water bottle. You may get more specific item requests from teachers. Pencils and notebooks are supplied by the school.

We currently have 18 classes at the school. With students leaving and new students registering, this number may change as it is generated by the number of students attending the school. Although we don't anticipate any changes, school reorganization is always a possibility and we want to make sure parents are aware of this.

We look forward to a fantastic school year and will see you on Tuesday!
