Draw Picasso Portraits in Griffith Park - High School/Middle School Event
This event is for students in grades 6-12, but there is a playground nearby where younger children can play.
Parking is free, but please check signs carefully. Note that cars parked in the area after sunset will be ticketed.
Meet at 3 pm at the tables by the playground in the Fern Dell area of Griffith Park, directly across the street from the Trails Cafe.

Tidepools and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium
After we explore the tide pools, we will visit the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, just steps from the tide pools themselves. Designed by architect Frank Gehry, the aquarium lets you get up close and learn about grunions, eels, the kelp forest, and even touch a whale skeleton.
Wear comfortable, non slip shoes and layered clothing.
Bring water, and lunch or a snack.
A notebook and pen, pencil, and/or markers or colored pencils are highly recommended.

Parking is $1 per hour ($9 max) for cars, and $2 per hour ($15 max) for boats and oversized vehicles.

From the Depths of the Ocean to the Depths of Space: A 3D Turtle Odyssey and the Space Shuttle Endeavour at the California Science Center
At 1 PM we will see the Space Shuttle Endeavour, and learn about the science and people that made its voyage possible. We will see pictures of its construction in Palmdale and Downey, as we learn about its 25 missions into space, including the first service mission to the Hubble Space Telescope and the first mission to add a U.S. built component to the International Space Station. You are free to explore the museum from 2 pm on.
Bring water, and lunch or a snack.
Parking is currently $12 per car. Parking fees are subject to change without notification.
Meet in front of the theater at 10:45 AM. We will enter at 11 for the 11:30 AM show film.

California African American Museum
Visit the California African American Museum - High School/Middle School Event
We will see contemporary art, and fashion as art, with paintings, photos, film, sculpture, historical documents and artifacts that reflect cultural and political events from the nineteenth century through today. Much of the work comes from California and the Western United States, and there are diverse contributions from Africa, Haiti, Brazil, and Jamaica.
Meet in front of the museum at 10:45 AM. Our docent led tour will begin promptly at 11 am.

Paid parking is available in the Exposition Park parking lot at 39th Street and Figueroa. Cars and school buses will be assessed a $12.00 CASH ONLY fee and parking for tour buses and oversized vehicles is $30.00. Note: If there is a special event in the Park, parking fees could be higher so please inquire.

See Picasso's Paintings (and other artists' works) at the Norton Simon Museum
The tour is only for students in grades 6-12. Younger students are welcome to join us after the tour ends at 12:15.
You can learn about the elements of art before you visit using this guide.
Visitors are also welcome to sketch works that they see, so please bring along some drawing paper and dry mediums, such as graphite or colored pencils.
Please note that oils, acrylic, watercolor, or other wet mediums are not permitted. Sketching must take place in a location that does not obstruct an entrance or exit and does not obstruct the view of the artwork or compromise the safety or security of the artwork or of other visitors. Equipment such as stools, chairs, and easels are not permitted.

Reminders: • Touching the art is not permitted. • Stay with their group at all times. • Speak quietly while in the galleries. • Be considerate to other Museum visitors. • Sitting on the floor is not permitted. • No gum chewing, food, or beverage. • Write in the galleries with pencils only; no ink pens or markers. • Leave all non-essential items at school or on the bus.
Food and Drink Outside food, beverages, and chewing gum are not permitted on the museum grounds.
Large Parcels/School Bags All umbrellas, backpacks, bags, or purses over 11 x 15 inches must be left in the checkroom at the admissions desk and retrieved before the museum closes. Backpacks and carriers of any size may not be worn in the galleries. Please note that all items brought into the museum are subject to search; all nonessential items should be left at school or on the bus.
Photography Visitors are permitted, for private and noncommercial use only, to take non-flash photography of the Permanent Collection galleries and sculpture garden. Videotaping is also allowed in these areas. In the museum, tripods are not allowed. Works of art on loan from private collections or other institutions may not be photographed or videotaped. The gallery label will indicate if the object is on loan. Photographs and videos may not be reproduced, published, distributed, transferred, or otherwise commercially exploited without express written permission from the Norton Simon Museum’s Office of Rights & Reproductions.

If you are unable to attend an event you have signed up for, please cancel your reservation in the FTE before the closing date. Your help will enable us to maintain positive relationships with our community. We understand that illnesses can cause last minute changes, but if you know you won't be able to attend in advance, please help us out by cancelling prior to the closing date in the FTE!
