Ready to Write!
This week we will introduce our new writing unit. We are super excited to teach the kids how to write their opinion. If you haven't already done so, please send in a favorite collection of small items for your child to write about or email your child's teacher a photo of the items. We will be using the items to inspire our writing for the next couple of weeks; if the items are needed, large, fragile, or expensive, please send a photo. Some examples include rocks, stamps, stickers, baseball cards, bracelets, Legos, cars, leaves, shells, figurines, etc. We can't wait to see how much the students grow as writers during this unit!

Reading
This week in reading, we will continue our unit entitled "Readers Have Big Jobs to Do," which focuses on fluency, phonics, and comprehension. Math
In math this week, we will begin our unit on geometry. Students have been introduced to geometry terminology through "Shape Bait," so they will have some schema already going into this unit!
Writing
We will be starting our unit on opinions this week. Students will be learning what an opinion is and how they can express theirs through writing. The collections you sent in will be a starting point for opinion writing.
