Sponsorship Update!
Back in mid April, several students came to school on a Saturday morning to participate in our first ever "Sponsorship Blitz." This event was put together so that students would have the opportunity to take part "behind the scenes" in keeping our band program growing strong. This event was a HUGE success!!! Enjoy the list of "Stats" we have put together. Thank you and congratulations to all the students that participated. This wouldn't have been possible without you!

The drumline is currently booking personal pep rallies the weekend of May 26-28 for graduating senior parties. We are advertising to band families first to give them first opportunity to book a timeslot. The 2023-24 GHS Mustang Color Guard will be having auditions for any students interested in joining the team! We are a co-ed program open to 9th-12th graders with no prior experience required.
Simply complete our interest form and attend our late audition date on Mon, May 15 @ 5-8pm at GHS. See Mr Draper or any band director for additional details on joining the program!

SHOW SHIRTS
Time to get your extra show shirts for the upcoming '23-'24 marching season! We wear these at games, competitions, well...everywhere!! This form is ONLY for the extra shirts for your family. The students get a shirt as part of their band fees and their sizing and orders will be taken care of at Spring Training next week. DUE Sunday, May 21, 2022. EARN MONEY TO PAY YOUR BAND FEES
Sign up to work the GHS Mustang Band/DECA Gate at the Main Street Fest.
Gate Attendants will be paid $12/hour (increase from $8/hr from years past). If a parent and student work a shift that is $24 per hour that can be put towards your band fees.
Students that are working shifts may also receive service hours.

GHS Band Parent Volunteers Needed
The GHS Band is looking for parent volunteers for many of our volunteer positions for next year. Take a look at the job descriptions and let us know if you can help. Getting involved is a great way to stay connected, be near your kiddo and meet a ton of really great band parents. To be considered for placement in an FWYO ensemble, prospective students must complete an online application and submit an audition video recording. The initial submission deadline is Monday, May 22, but we will continue to accept auditions to fill out the ensembles as needed. All audition requirements and application materials can be found on the FWYO website, at fwyo.org/audition.

Auditions for the Lone Star Youth Orchestra’s 2023-2024 Season will be held on Saturday, August 19th and Saturday, August 26th at the Irving Arts Center. Audition information and other details about the youth orchestra may be found online at www.lascolinassymphony.org/lsyo.
Auditions are by appointment only. Students can expect to perform two scales, a solo of their choice, and 2-3 excerpts that have been preselected for their instrument. E-mail the LSYO Manager at education@lascolinassymphony.org to request a registration form. Upon registration completion, the LSYO Manager will contact parents to schedule the audition.
The audition fee of $25 per student is fully refundable (provided that the student shows up for his/her scheduled audition). There are no other fee requirements to participate in the Lone Star Youth Orchestra.
Audition slots are filling fast and space is limited. Students should reserve their slot as soon as possible. No walk up auditions will be accepted.


Announcing: BOA Blast! at UNT

Music for All, Bands of America, and University of North Texas Wind Studies are thrilled to announce BOA Blast! at UNT, a one-day summer camp for students held in collaboration with University of North Texas Wind Studies. BOA Blast! at UNT will focus on increasing achievement in the marching arts for high school students, including winds, color guard, and drum majors. Leadership is a focus of the day for all. Students work with members and staff of Carolina Crown; wind players will perform the Star-Spangled Banner and a musical excerpt of the Carolina Crown production at the DCI Denton show.

Students/Parents should login and update their CHARMS information. This is our primary form of communication, and it is important to have accurate information. Charms is not an option to make a band payment.

REMIND
All students and parents must join the Remind Groups. We use Remind to communicate quickly during events and will only send out messages that are important for everyone. Visit the band website for details.
PayPal
You may pay for your child’s fees easily with a credit card using a Pay Pal account. To use this feature, click on the “Finances” button then choose the “Make A Trip Payment” button. If you have not set up a Pay Pal account, you will be given an option to do so. Choose to pay using your credit card, debit card, or bank account. Make secure purchases without revealing your credit card number or financial information to the GHS Band or the CHARMS system. PayPal offers one of the safest platforms for online commerce with fraud rates at a fraction of those of typical e-commerce offerings. PayPal offers ease and flexibility, accepting all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express), as well as all major debit cards and direct transfers. Please be aware that there is a fee to pay by credit card.
Grapevine Mustang Band
All students: please wear light weight, athletic style clothing to Spring Training. In addition to movement on the field, you will be measured for uniforms, trying on samples, etc. We can't get good measurements, etc. if you are wearing cargo shorts, hoodies, etc.
Returning students: before you come to Spring Training, check and see if you will need new shoes, under uniform shirts and/or shorts, earrings, body tights, blue water jug, etc. (See the order form that was emailed to all parents for a complete list.) Spring Training is your opportunity to order these items!
