Mark your calendars and celebrate Earth Day with Connect2Texas on Monday, April 22! We will be offering a variety of FREE programs that focus on conservation and protecting our planet. Look for program opportunities to be announced on March 19 along with registration options.
SPOTLIGHT SESSIONS
The New Space Race
Presented by Fort Worth Museum of Science and History
Grades: 3-8
Cost: FREE
Date: March 29 (Registration deadline March 25!)
Time: 10:00-10:50 a.m. CST
The 2019 year could see as many as five missions to the Moon -- none of which are being sent by NASA. Nations like China and India - as well as private organizations from around the world - are leading the next generation of lunar exploration. This session will explore how they're getting there and what they hope to discover.
National Poetry Month
Presented by Old Jail Art Center
Grades: 3-5
Cost: FREE
Date: April 12
Time: 10:00-10:45 a.m. CST
Celebrate National Poetry Month this April! Explore Acrostic, Haiku, and Shape poetry through an artistic investigation. This is an excellent opportunity to connect language arts and visual thinking strategies in your classroom. Using sensory details and descriptive wording, students will compose three poems inspired by works of art in the museum collection. Each student will create a tri-fold poetry booklet, complete with their own compositions and images from the museum collection.
