Principal's Message
Dear Hoover families,
Greetings! I can't believe that we are about to enter February 2022! the month of January seemed to have gone super fast! I wanted to extend a huge HUSKY CONGRATULATIONS to all our students who reclassified this year!, we had a total of 46 students who achieved such an important milestone in their educational career. Reclassification occurs when it is determined (typically through English language proficiency exam scores) that the student no longer requires ELL services, sometimes called “exiting.” This happens when the students are proficient in English and no longer need language instruction. I am proud of their achievement and grateful for all the work done by them and the team around them.
We have also completed our I-Ready assessment and it shows that our grades continue to improve! Our next assessment is the ELPAC, the window for this assessment begins Feb 7th. ELPAC is used to gauge the level of English mastery, so it is very important that all English Language Learner students get a chance to practice their English skills as much as possible at home and also at school.
Thanks again for all the work that is being done, let's continue to stay focused as we move further into 2022! Go Huskies! great things are happening here!

ELPAC ASSESSMENTS
(ELPAC-English Language Proficiency Assessment for California) is a mandated state test that is used to determine English language proficiency (ELP). The assessments is given every year to students whose primary language is one other than English.
Time for assessment: The window begins Feb 7th, pls make sure that your child is practicing as much as possible for a great success!

COVID TESTING AND PROTOCOL
We continue to offer testing to all Hoover students every Monday and Wednesday from 10:15am to 12:00pm and Thursdays from 1:30pm to 3:45pm. This testing is for Hoover students and staff only.
As previously mentioned, if your child is showing any ill symptoms at all, please have him/her stay home and contact the Hoover office, we would like to err on the side of caution in order for us to continue to keep a safe campus.
Parents, please be aware that there have been recent changes and updated to the Pandemic Recovery Framework, please take the time to read and note those changes.
In order to test, you MUST register, one time registration needed, if you are already registered, there is no need to register again. I highly encourage you to register your child at the following link: Registration for Free Covid Testing.

DRESS CODE
Hoover students are enjoying a free dress day today (January 31st)! students have been asking me what dates do we have free dress days and the answer is: Free dress days are given once a month, on the last day of the school month. Our next Free Dress day will be Feb 28th. This is also a great time to remind students that we do have a dress code that all students need to adhere to. The dress code is as follows:
TK-5
White or Navy: Shirts/blouses with a collar, or polo shirts, turtlenecks and the Hoover spirit t-shirt can be worn daily.
Navy Blue: Pants, shorts, skirts or jumpers, leggins may be worn if a skirt is worn on top
White, Khaki, Navy Blue, dark grey, black: for jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts
6TH-8TH GRADE
White or Navy: Button down shirts/blouses with collars, polo shirts, turtlenecks and the Hoover spirit shirt can be worn daily.
Khaki, Black: Pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers, leggins may be worn if a skirt is worn on top
White, Khaki, Navy Blue, dark grey, black: for jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts
Unnaceptable: Bandanas of any color, hair nets, make-up, sleeveless blouses, low-cut tops or short tops that show midriff, baggy pants, pants worn below the waistline, miniskirts, baggy shirts, chains, sweat pants, denim pants, blue jeans
