TISON ROO NEWS 2019-20
Week of September 2nd
Dear Tison Middle School Parents and Guardians,
It is a privilege and honor to join the Tison family as the principal of Tison Middle School. Our campus has been active these last few weeks with families enrolling students, students beginning extracurricular activities and faculty preparing their classrooms. I have greatly enjoyed my first few weeks building relationships with the students, families and staff I have had an opportunity to meet.
I am beginning my 19th year in education, 14 of which have been in educational leadership. Last year I thoroughly enjoyed my 1st year in Weatherford ISD serving as the associate principal at Weatherford Ninth Grade Center. Prior to that I spent 11 years as an administrator in Keller ISD, 2 years as an administrator in Crowley ISD and 4 years as a math teacher in Birdville ISD. My wife Ashley and I have one son, Raylon who is almost 3, and we are expecting our second child soon.
We are looking forward to a great year at Tison. Please remember to check Skyward often to stay in the know about your child’s studies, assignments, and assessments. This school e-newsletter will help you stay informed on school activities, as well as other events and happenings. It is usually emailed through Skyward's Message Center and posted on Skyward Family Access.

CONNECTING TO WISD-WIFI FOR WISD STUDENTS
Beginning Of Year Password Change
Passwords are required to be more complex this year for students! Students are required to use a minimum of 8 characters that include at least three of the following four classes:
- English upper-case letters
- English lower-case letters
- Numerals (0,1,2,...)
- Non-alphanumeric (special) characters such as punctuation symbols (!@#$%^&*_+=/~`;:,<>|\) or a space. Students should not use a question mark (?) in their password.
Also students should not reuse an old password, include their first or last name in the password, or have Weatherford or WISD as part of the password.
Connecting to WISD-WIFI
- Students need to download the Cipa Filter Certificate onto their device. Go to: https://cipafilter.weatherfordisd.com/ssl to download the filter certificate. Students will need to do this at home on their device or be on data if at school.
- Students will be presented with a device specific page with instructions for installing the SSL certificate on their device. Should they need instructions for another device type there are links at the bottom of the page for all devices.
- Follow the onscreen guide for your operating system to download and install the certificate. You may need to name the certificate...naming it cipa filter is fine.
- Students should choose the WISD-WIFI network on their devices and use their Skyward username & new password to connect. Identity = username
Congrats to Tison for Becoming a Heart Safe School Through Project ADAM!
Project ADAM affiliates strive to assist schools and communities in establishing an emergency plan to place into action in the incidence of a sudden cardiac arrest. It’s not enough simply to have AEDs in the building. Lives are saved when schools are prepared not only with a documented plan, but also with a cardiac response team, in addition to being well trained and practiced on how to respond in the event of a cardiac emergency.
Project ADAM affiliates provide the foundation for schools to plan and develop their program, including planning templates, a reference manual and one-on-one consultation on how to help prevent sudden cardiac death in the school setting.

Kanga Care Clinic
PURPOSE
Kanga Care is a partnership between Weatherford ISD and Parker County Hospital District Outreach Program, to provide medical care onsite at each campus. Through the use of telemedicine and the Medpod Medical Cart, the healthcare needs of staff and students can be met in a convenient setting with each campus nurse. Kanga Care's purpose is to increase the educational success of students and staff by assuring access to healthcare. Early treatment can decrease the need for expensive medical care and unnecessary Emergency Room visits.
How to enroll in Kanga Care?
Fill out the Kanga Care Consent and either email it back to: kangacare@pchdtx.org or turn it in at any WISD school campus in the Kanga Care lock box.
If you have any questions please feel free to call Kathleen Durham with PCHD at 817-599-1230.

Tison Yearbook Staff Needs Your Photos!
The Tison Yearbook staff wants to put pages in the yearbook that showcase what our Tison students did over their summer break and also their first days of school. If you or your student has any you would like to share -- they could potentially end up in the 2018-19 yearbook!
Who is your "go to" person you can trust?
If you need someone to talk to, stop by the front office and fill out a pink slip to see Mrs. Brown or Mrs. Kelly.
