"Sit and Get" Won't Grow Dendrites
Marcia Tate has written five best-selling books on the topic of engaging the brain and growing dendrites. Keeping the brain active will grab attention, make objectives memorable, and create experiences for lifetime learning. Mrs. Schnell was teaching her 3rd grade class about complete and incomplete sentences. Students read a sentence on the Smartboard, if the sentence was complete, they would stand on one side of the room. If the sentence was incomplete they would walk to the opposite side of the room. They then would discuss and find out if their decision was correct.
Physical Education Action at GT/RA
Mr. Hough's high school and middle school physical education classes are playing the games Spike Ball and Can Jam. Students learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and eye-hand coordination. The video shows GT/RA students playing Spike Ball. The middle school students attempt to toss the frisbee in the can in their P.E. class.

Mrs. Hunefeld's GT 5th Grade
The GT fifth grade students were learning about the sequence of events in writing. Mrs. Hunefeld demonstrated the importance of giving specific directions in the sequence to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. When told to put the peanut butter on the bread, she placed the jar of peanut butter on top of a piece of bread! She needed explicit directions!

Mrs. Jungers' Sixth Grade Selfies
The GT sixth grade students are reading the book "The Westing Game". The students are learning about identities. After taking a selfie, the students then wrote words about their own identity on their picture.

RA 8th Grade Spanish Exploratory
Mrs. Johnson teaches the Spanish vocabulary that describes the family. The students then wrote stories about their family replacing the English words with the Spanish words.
Sixth Grade Exploratory Child Development Class
Mrs. Myers begins class by reading a picture book to the class. Explaining the importance of reading to children and talking about the book.
Taking Care of Babies
The 6th-grade students take care of computerized babies that need changing, fed and burped.
Gentle Care
The baby will cry if not cared for gently. Each cry means a different need.
I Can
At the start of each day, Mrs. Dreeszen states their "I Can" statements for the day. This is the list of objectives that her class will learn throughout the day.
Freshmen Physical Science Experiment
The GT freshmen class applied their measuring skills to find the position and time of a moving car.
Using the Gym
The students used the extra space available in the gym for this experiment.
Recording Data and Graphing Skills
Students apply graphing skills that they have already learned and will apply that to new learning.
GTRA High School Band
The GTRA High School Band is conducted by Ms. Doerder. Here they practice for their concert in the gymnasium.
GTRA High School Chior
Mrs. Sexe is the GTRA High School Choir director. The fall concert was held on October 19.
RA 6th Grade Band
Mr. Neilsen conducts the 6th graders as the play the song, "The Final Countdown."
RA 11th Grade English Class
Mrs. Kirk's 11th Grade English Class has been interpreting historical documents. They look for the rhetoric and repetition in each primary and secondary sources. The class worked in groups at the Gettysburg Address, a letter from John Adams to his wife Abigail, Political Cartoons, and Interpreting the Words of Olaudah Equiano. The class pet rabbit, Cotton, works with the students.
