A big thank you to Kona Ice for coming to the school today to help us celebrate our students. The plan is for Kona to visit at the end of each quarter to help us celebrate our academic successes and those students who have been nominated by staff members for upholding our Lakeview values.
We have a new Picture Day date! We will do our final round of school pictures on October 26th during the school day. We will call down all students who have not had pictures taken yet and then do retakes for those wanting them. Please see the flyer below for more information.

Pickerington Education Foundation Donations
Each year, the Pickerington Education Foundation (PEF) puts on a Charity Auction with the proceeds from this event providing grants to Pickerington teachers and buildings for a variety of classroom projects. As part of this event there is a silent auction which includes upscale baskets and themed, decorated trees. Each school's PTO is responsible for providing a themed tree. This year Lakeview's theme is OSU. The PTO is asking for donations to make our tree the best one there! I have attached the link below. I also attached a link to the PEF Charity Auction if you are interested in attending.
Therapy Dogs at Lakeview
We are excited to announce the introduction of our Therapy Dog Program at Lakeview. Leo and Tucker, canine good citizens and registered therapy dogs, plan to make regular visits to our building. The purpose of these visits are to enhance the educational experiences for our students both academically and emotionally.
Many of our students have had the pleasure of working with therapy dogs at the elementary and middle school levels here in Pickerington. As young adolescents, junior high students rely on the staff here at Lakeview to provide them with the very best education and emotional support we can offer. The addition of Leo and Tucker to our building will undoubtedly be positive for our students.
If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the therapy dog or the program, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Broz-England. sheryl_broz-england@plsd.us
Enrollment Projections Hold True Highlighting Need for Pickerington Schools' Bond Passage
Pickerington Schools’ enrollment has exceeded projections for the 2022-23 school year, and the student population is forecasted to increase by nearly 1,000 students by the 2027-28 school year. By that point in time, nearly every building in the district will be over capacity. The two charts below break down the expected enrollment growth by school year, as well as the enrollment versus capacity in each of our buildings through the 2029-30 school year.
Pickerington Schools’ Nov. 8 bond issue will be used to address this rapid growth in the student population by constructing a new junior high and renovating and expanding existing facilities. Community approval of the bond issue will help our students for years to come, and will help keep our schools and property values strong. Learn more about the bond issue on our website. Don’t forget that early in-person and absentee voting by mail is open now and election day is Nov. 8. More information about voting is available on the Vote Ohio website.
iReady/ALEKS expectations
Now that the diagnostics have been completed, students have their own personal pathway to follow in iReady or ALEKS (Algebra and Geometry students). The students have been having data chats with their teachers to see how passing their recommended number iReady lessons and ALEKS topics directly relates to their performance on the Ohio State Tests (OSTs) in the Spring. Students should be working in study hall or at home to complete at least 2 iReady lessons in Reading and 2 in Math each week. Students who have ALEKS need to be completing 10 topics a week. For more information on iReady and how you can support your student please visit the iReady Family Center.
New Horizons - Suicide Prevention Program
Pickerington Schools are again partnering with New Horizons Mental Health Services to provide the SOS: Signs of Suicide Prevention Program to Lakeview students. Please see the attached letter for more information about the presentations, including information about the depression screening tool used by New Horizons.
