Celebrate Women's History Month
Affirmation of the Week
Thank you to all the staff who reached out to families to invite them to Saturday school, as well as the teachers who served as instructors. This week, reminders and permission slips will go home with students. Please find additional students that would benefit and contact their parents in order to make sure we are maximizing the effectiveness of this intervention. Please note that bus transportation is not available for Saturday School. See Dr. Turner, the Saturday School Administrator, with any questions you may have.
Push Ins
Core classroom teachers, use benchmark data to group students (We will meet Tuesday to review Math data). Push-in teachers can do several things, based on the specific needs revealed by your data:
- Work with small groups on skills you assign (provide them with the materials you want them to use)
- Monitor small groups
- Monitor the class during independent work while you pull small groups to provide intensive support to prepare for Milestones.
Push-Ins from the Connections team will take place immediately following 8th grade connections until 11:10 on M, W, and F, beginning Wed. See below for push-in assignments:
Ball: Coach E, Byrdsong, Amos
Ivory: Sanders, Kemp
Turner: Spriggs, Byrdsong
Thurston: Davis, Green
W. Wilson: Edmonds, Abdur-Rahman
Swinton: Tillery, Shipman
Smith: Pettway, D. Williams
Thomas: Morgan, Mahan
Testing Team: Phillips, Tyson (This time can be used to prepare testing materials and technology)
Just as a reminder, all instructional roads lead to Milestones at this point. Maximize every second of instructional time to prepare students for this test, not only with content but also with test-taking strategies and building testing stamina. There is no time left for spending time on anything that is not laser-focused on improving student achievement on Milestones.
Progress Report Schedule
This is just another reminder of Progress Report deadlines. Be sure to adhere to these dates and keep Mastery Connect updated so that we can effectively use data to drive instruction and interventions. Progress Reports will go home Monday. Future dates are below.

To Do List
- Stress the importance of Benchmarks as a tool for preparing for Milestones and encourage/incentivize students to take them seriously.
- Use data to modify small groups that are intensely focused on tracking standards mastery, test-taking strategies, and opportunities to build testing stamina.
- Prepare for recurring SST meetings throughout the week.
